Common use of Deputy Sheriff Clause in Contracts

Deputy Sheriff. A Deputy Sheriff shall serve in a probationary period for one (1) year. This probationary 26 period will begin upon the date of completing the Field Training Program. Certified Court Security 27 Deputies’ probationary period will begin upon the date of initial assignment. The probationary period 28 may be extended by the Sheriff for up to an additional year with the consent of the employee. This 29 authority to extend the probationary period shall be the exception rather than the rule. In the event that 30 probation is extended, the employee will enter into a contract with the Sheriff specifying the terms of 31 the extension. 32 a. If any leave or other absence, in excess of 80 hours, interrupts the initial probationary period, or 33 the probationary period following promotion, the length of the probationary period may be 34 extended by that length of the leave or other absence.
