Common use of Deletion prior to Commencement Clause in Contracts

Deletion prior to Commencement. Where Work is deleted from the Contract (by Bulletin, Change Order, or otherwise) prior to commencement of that Work without substitution of other similar Work, one hundred percent of the Contract Sum attributable to that Work shall be deducted from the Contract Sum. However, in the event that material submittals have been approved and orders placed for said materials, a lesser amount as justified by proper documentation shall be deducted from the Contract Sum. The credit if any to the Owner for reduced premiums on payment bonds and performance bonds shall be in all cases one hundred percent of the credit.
