If a teacher dies while in the active service of the Board, the deceased teacher’s unused Accumulated Sick Leave days shall be paid to his or her survivor at the rate specified in Article III, Section 14. Other benefits which will be provided to the survivor(s) of a teacher who dies while under contract include: earned but unpaid wages, life insurance benefits as provided for in the teacher contract, and the right to take advantage of medical/hospitalization insurance for spouse and/or dependents as described under the provisions of COBRA, and a money amount equal to the retirement pay that would have been paid according to Article III, Section 14.
