Damaged Spikes. All track spikes damaged and not functioning as intended during the raising, aligning, and surfacing operation shall be repaired. The bent spikes shall be removed, and the resulting hole shall be plugged with a treated tie plug of a size sufficient to completely and tightly fill the hole, then a new spike shall be driven. Spikes that are raised shall be re-driven unless they are loose in their hole. If they are loose, the hole shall be plugged with a tie plug and the spike re-driven.
