CIVIL ENGINEERING DESIGN Sample Clauses

The Civil Engineering Design clause outlines the responsibilities and standards for preparing engineering plans and specifications for a construction project. It typically details the scope of design services, required qualifications of the design team, and the process for submitting and approving design documents. This clause ensures that all civil engineering aspects, such as site grading, drainage, and infrastructure, are addressed according to regulatory and project requirements. Its core function is to establish clear expectations for design deliverables, thereby reducing the risk of misunderstandings and ensuring the project meets technical and legal standards.
CIVIL ENGINEERING DESIGN. The scope of work includes design engineering services for streets, bike trails, storm drains, storm drain channels, land survey, city facilities, and all related services. The consultant shall also provide design and specifications for traffic signals, signing, striping, signal modifications, detour plans, and traffic control where required by the scope of work. Consultant shall prepare construction documents including but not limited to providing the following: • Ground and/or aerial surveys as necessary • Infrastructure surveys • 3D modeling and photo/video simulations • Cross sections • Right-of-way engineering research/calculations • Legal descriptions and mapping • Geotechnical and material investigations and reports • Hydrology and hydraulic reports • Processing design approval with other regulatory agenciesDrainage design • Potable water and sewer design • Grading design • Site planningRoadway designTraffic signal design/modifications • Signing & Striping • ADA design and assessment • Stage construction • Detour and traffic control design • Traffic Management Plan (TMP) • Research City’s documents, map existing utilities, and coordinate utility relocations with affected utilities • Prepare appropriate environmental documents obtaining project approvalsWater quality/Storm water pollution prevention plans and reportsTechnical specifications • Engineer’s Cost Estimates • Quantity take-offs • Prepare landscaping and irrigation improvement plans associated with street improvements • Prepare drainage master plans Consultant shall be expected to deliver completed and approved design assignments on or ahead of approved schedules. All designs shall be prepared and submitted in a manner that ensures a complete design approved by the City Engineer with no more than three plan check submittals. Consultant must be proactive and knowledgeable of all regulations required for project acceptance. Consultant shall be an advisor, advocate, and produce a product with the best interest intended for the City within the required schedule and project budget. All work shall be done in conformance with applicable City, State and Federal laws, latest versions of City Design Manuals, City Standard Plans, Caltrans manuals and policies, Caltrans Standard Plans and Specifications, APWA Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction “Greenbook,” California Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices and California Building Codes, all as revised and amended. CIVIL ENGINEERING DESIGN. Consultant shall prepare a refined concept for the project area. This refined concept shall identify lanes and widths, median, parking areas, pedestrian and bicycle amenities, and bus turnouts. It shall address long-term drainage issues, analyze and update ADA at intersections, compare median locations with business delivery truck alternatives, and utility location and relocation. Consultant shall value engineer the site to find collaborative opportunities between aesthetics, functionality, flood control, and run-off water quality. The landscape design shall also incorporate biofiltration measures if feasible. Portions of pavement in the parking lanes could be designed to include pervious concrete in lieu of standard pavement, reducing the spread width of gutter flow, reducing heat island effect, filtering run-off, and providing detention capabilities in flood events. Consultant shall review the Old Town parking study prepared by ▇▇▇▇▇▇ Parking Consultants and apply results accordingly to redesign efforts including opportunities for employees, customers, and residents to walk, bike, and interact more efficiently within the travel corridor. Consultant shall explore potential opportunities for sidewalk bulbouts with landscaping that can incorporate bio-remediation techniques before draining into an inlet; “pockets” in the sidewalk which could include street furniture to ▇▇▇▇▇▇ pedestrian/business interaction, or be employed as a pedestrian crossing shelter to minimize pedestrian crossing distance at key locations. Deliverables: • Two (2) engineered 4-lane design concepts sufficient as a base for City staff review, landscape design, and presentation materials, including traffic modeling video if Optional Item 2 is requested.
CIVIL ENGINEERING DESIGN. Documentation services consisting of the preparation of a preliminary grading analysis and earthwork calculations for cost estimating purposes. i. Preliminary Site Grading Plan ii. Preliminary Site Utility Plan
