Bereavement Day. Section 27.1. In the event of the death of a member of the immediate family of any employee, the employee shall be entitled to take one (1) scheduled working day off, or two (2) 12 hour shifts in consecutive days, for bereavement, without loss of pay at the regular hourly rate. “Immediate family” shall include the spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister, parent, grandparent, grandchild, Father-in-law, Mother-in-law, son-in-law, grandparent-in law, daughter-in-law, step-father, step-mother, step- sister, step-brother, step-son, step-daughter, half-brother, half-sister, sister-in-law, brother-in- law, a legal guardian or other person who stands in place of a parent.

Bereavement Day. No more than five (5) teachers may be absent from each building on any given day. If more than five (5) teachers per building apply in a given day, seniority will be used to determine who shall qualify for receipt of the Bereavement Day.
Bereavement Day. An employee may be absent without loss of pay for up to a total of three (3) working days for the death of a member of the employee’s immediate family which shall include father, mother, children, spouse, grandparents, grandchildren, brother, sister or step family or in-laws of like relationship. These days are not to be deducted from sick leave. An additional two days, if necessary, shall be deducted from sick leave. If additional time is needed for a death other than the above, approval must be obtained from the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee and any additional time will be deducted from accumulated paid time off.
Bereavement Day. Employees will be granted up to 3 bereavement days each school year. When death occurs in an employee's immediate family (spouse, mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law stepfather, stepmother, stepchildren, grandmother, grandfather, and grandchildren), an employee upon request will be excused and paid for up to three (3) days, two (2) days to be used at the time of the funeral and the third day at the employee's option. The three days will not count against incentive pay. If a death in the immediate family occurs after an employee has used the three bereavement days during the school year, sick days used at the time of the funeral (up to 2) will not count against the incentive pay. One of the three days may be used for a personal friend, but it would count against incentive pay.

  • Bereavement A maximum of three (3) days earned sick leave may be used per occurrence for bereavement due to the death of persons in the immediate or extended family, as defined herein, or any relative who resided with the employee.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.
