Common use of Animal Subjects Clause in Contracts

Animal Subjects. LLS adheres to the most current guidelines applicable to the care and treatment of animals used in laboratory work as outlined by the National Institutes of Health (“NIH”). Sponsoring Institution acknowledges, and will ensure that Grantee acknowledges, that the Application includes a statement indicating that Sponsoring Institution meets and adheres to these guidelines, and Sponsoring Institution must provide LLS with an accompanying letter signed by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, or equivalent institutional body, confirming the same. Those research projects that do not involve the use of laboratory animals must so state in the Application. If the animal use privileges of Sponsoring Institution and/or Grantee are suspended, then LLS must be notified within ten (10) business days of the suspension. LLS will take whatever action it deems appropriate, including suspension or termination of this Agreement. Failure to notify LLS of non-compliance with the guidelines on the use of laboratory animals will result in suspension or termination of this Agreement.
