Anaesthetic. 31. Administration of local anaesthetic injections other than by medically qualified practitioners is an offence. Under the Medicines Act 1968, local anaesthetic creams, sprays, gels etc. are prescription only medicines and pharmacy medicines which may only be sold by pharmacists for medical application on the patient only.
