Additional Student Assignments. When a teacher is assigned additional students due to a lack of substitutes, that teacher will receive $7.00 per student once they are assigned to the class and remain for the rest of the day. This option may be exercised only after every effort has been made to secure substitutes. Additional students shall be assigned in a fair and equitable manner. 7.10.1 The district may ask other certificated members (non-classroom teachers), on a voluntary basis, to substitute for classroom teachers when there is no substitute provided by the district, and will receive the daily substitute rate. 7.10.2 An Emergency Substitute Coverage Committee, consisting of certificated staff and district administration, will work in the course of the 2022-2023 school year to develop clear protocols and processes which will be incorporated into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

If a substitute is secured at some point during the day after the teacher has agreed to take additional students, and if they have been in the classroom less than half of the day, the teacher shall receive $7 per student for that day.
