Common use of Additional Assignment Clause in Contracts

Additional Assignment. Any assignments in addition to the normal teaching schedule during the regular school year shall not be obligatory but shall be with the consent of the teacher. (See also Article IX. 1. Preference in making such assignments shall be given to teachers regularly employed in the District. 2. If there is more than one teacher applicant for a schedule B position, the teacher whom the Superintendent deems is best qualified in the activity will be awarded the position after considering the teacher's previous experience in the activity and professional background. 3. If there are no teacher volunteers for schedule B positions, the Board reserves the right to fill the positions with other than the present teaching staff. New hires will be subject to a full background check. 4. If, after publicly advertising the position the Board is unable to fill it with someone from the outside, the Board may assign the position to a teacher. 5. No teacher shall be required to accept more than one such position per school year. 6. Advance notice of any such assignment shall be given as soon as practical but at least fifteen (15) days before the assignment begins except for emergencies and those assignments that begin before the opening of school, or during the first week of school. 7. Teachers involuntarily assigned schedule B positions under this provision shall not be evaluated adversely for performance deficiencies beyond the scope of their personal abilities, training and experience.
