ABSENTEEISM REDUCTION Clause Samples

ABSENTEEISM REDUCTION. Employees agree to ongoing absenteeism reduction program designed to reduce those costs and lost production time occasioned through absence. If at the request of the employee and subject to prior management approval, an employee requires time off from work for a period during ordinary working hours and would not be otherwise entitled to payment for that period, they may make up the lost time and be paid at ordinary time rates for the time so worked, this may include a Saturday or Sunday. Should an employee choose to exercise the conditions from the above clause then all ordinary hours owed to the company subject to any “make up time” agreement are to be worked prior to any overtime rate being applied. The make up of ordinary hours in this way will be subject to the availability of suitable work and prior approval having been granted by the Supervisor. In the event of termination an equivalent, to a proportion of total accrued unused sick leave will be paid at the all purpose rate of pay subject to the completion of any required notice period, as set out in the clause below. All employees who have served a qualifying period of 1 year’s service with ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ will be eligible to participate in this scheme. The unused leave days accrue at the rate of 76.0 hours per year for the purpose of this scheme and will become part of the total payment, upon termination of employment. Total accrued sick leave under this system will be 729.6 hours. It is recognized that due to an error in previous Agreements, some employees have accrued in excess of 729.6 hours and up to a maximum of 768 hours. Bradken will honor the additional hours accrued for those employees in this category, however from the commencement date of this Agreement, should their accrued hours fall below 729.6 hours, then 729.6 hours will be the maximum allowable accrual from then on. For all other employees, the maximum allowable accrual will be 729.6 hours as per the agreement. In the event of a person being re-employed by the Company (after retrenchment only) within six months of them receiving their unused sick days payment upon termination, they will not have to re-qualify, and their unused sick days accrual would start from the first day of recommencing employment.
ABSENTEEISM REDUCTION. All parties bound by this Agreement agree to recognize and participate in an ongoing absenteeism reduction program, designed to reduce those costs and lost production time occasioned through absence.
