Unit constructed definition

Unit constructed means a unit, the keel of which is laid or which is at a similar stage of construction.(b) Subject to § 108.515, each unit con- structed before October 1, 1996, must meet the requirements of this subpart, except for the number, type, and ar- rangement of lifeboats (including sur- vival capsules), lifeboat davits, winch- es, inflatable liferafts, liferaft launch- ing equipment, and rescue boats.(c)(1) If a District Commander deter- mines that the overall safety of the persons on board a unit will not be sig- nificantly reduced, the District Com- mander may grant an exemption from compliance with a provision of this part to a specific unit for a specified geographic area within the boundaries of the Coast Guard District. This ex- emption may be limited to certain pe- riods of the year.(2) Requests for exemption under this paragraph must be in writing to the OCMI for transmission to the District Commander in the area in which the unit is in service or will be in service.

  • Existing construction means any structure for which the "start of construction" commenced before the effective date of the initial floodplain management code or ordinance adopted by the community as a basis for that community's participation in the NFIP.

  • Acquisition and Construction Fund means the fund so designated in, and created pursuant to, Section 502 hereof.

  • Pipeline Construction means a substantial disturbance to agricultural land associated with installation, replacement, removal, operation or maintenance of a pipeline, but shall not include work performed during an emergency.   • Commencement of Construction means the commencement of construction of foundation components or elements (such as footings, rafts or piles) for the home.

(Permanent construction does not include initial land preparation, such as clearing, grading and filling; nor does it include the installation of streets and/or walkways; nor does it include excavation for a basement, footings, piers or foundations or the erection of temporary forms; nor does it include the installation on the property of buildings appurtenant to the permitted structure, such as garages or sheds not occupied as dwelling units or part of the main structure. (NOTE: accessory structures are NOT exempt from any ordinance requirements) For a substantial improvement, the actual start of construction means the first alteration of any wall, ceiling, floor, or other structural part of a building, whether or not that alteration affects the external dimensions of the building.
