The stage of cancer will be reported using Tumor Node Metastasis (TNM) classification system as developed by the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC).

According to the last sixth TNM staging manual, stage II CRC is subdivided into IIA (T3N0M0) and IIB (T4N0M0) and stage III is subdivided into IIIA (T1/2N1M0) and IIIB (T3/4N1M0).
