School district of residence means the public school district within New York State in which the foster care placement is located, which is different from the school district of origin.
School district of residence for a homeless child means the school district in which the parent of a homeless child resided prior to becoming homeless. It may not be the school district in which the student currently resides. This is synonymous with the term "school district of origin" referenced in the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act. "School district of residence" for a student in a State facility means the school district in which the parent with whom the student lived prior to placement in a State facility currently resides pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:7B-12.b.
