Overseas treatment means treatments or appliances provided or sourced from outside of Australia. This includes treatment on cruise ships inside or outside Australian waters.
Medical Treatment means examination and treatment by a Legally Qualified Physician for a condition which first manifested itself, worsened or became acute or had symptoms which would have prompted a reasonable person to seek diagnosis, care or treatment.
Maltreatment means the neglect, abuse, or financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
Residential treatment facility means a facility which provides a treatment program for behavioral health services and is established and operated in accordance with applicable state laws for residential treatment programs. RETAIL CLINIC is a medical clinic licensed to provide limited services, generally located in a retail store, supermarket or pharmacy. A retail clinic provides vaccinations and treats uncomplicated minor illnesses such as colds, ear infections, minor wounds or abrasions.
Substance abuse treatment means outpatient or inpatient services or participation in Alcoholics Anonymous or a similar program.
Thermal treatment means the treatment of hazardous waste in a device which uses elevated temperatures as the primary means to change the chemical, physical, or biological character or composition of the hazardous waste. Examples of thermal treatment processes are incineration, molten salt, pyrolysis, calcination, wet air oxidation, and microwave discharge. (See also “incinerator” and “open burning”.)

Residential treatment means services at a facility that provides care 24 hours daily to one or more patients, including, but not limited to, the following services: room and board; medical, nursing and dietary services; patient diagnosis, assessment and treatment; individual, family and group counseling; and educational and support services, including a designated unit of a licensed health care facility providing any and all other services specified in this paragraph to patients with substance use disorder.[PL 2017, c. 407, Pt. The term includes both life-sustaining medications and artificial life support such as mechanical breathing machines, kidney dialysis treatment, and artificially administered nutrition and hydration. The term does not include the administration of pain management medication, the performance of a medical procedure necessary to provide comfort care, or any other medical care provided to alleviate a patient's pain.
