Loss of Hearing means the total and complete loss of the ability to hear any sound as a result of a Covered Accident. The loss must be certified by a Legally Qualified Physician that the loss of hearing is permanent with no reasonable expectation of recovery.
Loss of Speech means the disability in articulating any three of the four sounds which contribute to the speech such as the Labial sounds, the Alveololabial sounds, the Palatal sounds and the Velar sounds or total loss of vocal cord or damage of speech centre in the brain resulting in Aphasia.
Loss of Use means the total and irrecoverable loss of function of an arm, hand, foot, leg or thumb and index finger of the same hand provided such loss of function is continuous for 12 consecutive months and such loss of function is thereafter determined on evidence satisfactory to Chubb Life to be permanent.
Community Developmental Disability Program (CDDP means an entity that is responsible for planning and delivery of services for individuals with developmental disabilities in a specific geographic service area of the state operated by or under a contract with the Division or a local mental health authority.

Workplace Harassment means engaging in a course of vexatious comment or conduct against a worker in a workplace that is known or ought reasonably to be known to be unwelcome”. Ref: Occupational Health and Safety Act, Sec. 1 (1). The employee rights set out above shall be interpreted within the context of the Ontario Human Rights Code. An employee who believes that she has been harassed, contrary to this provision shall be encouraged by both parties to follow the Employer’s policy on harassment and process. Failing resolution, an employee may follow the process set out in the Complaint, Grievance and Arbitration procedure in Article 8 of the Collective Agreement. The employee shall be encouraged by both parties to exhaust these processes prior to filing a complaint with the Ontario Human Rights Commission.

Pregnancy means carrying a child, resulting childbirth, miscarriage and non-elective abortion. The Plan considers Pregnancy as a Sickness for the purpose of determining benefits.
Health and Human Services or “HHS” includes HHSC and DSHS.
Loss of an Eye, means total and irrevocable loss of sight in that eye.
Medical means belonging to the study and practice of medicine for the prevention, alleviation or management of a physical or mental defect, illness, or condition.

Home health aide means an individual employed by a home health agency to provide home health services under the direction of a registered nurse or therapist.
Mental Health Worker means an individual that assists in planning, developing and evaluating mental health services for Clients; provides liaison between Clients and service providers; and has obtained a Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field such as psychology, counseling, or social work, or has two years of experience providing client related services to Clients experiencing mental health, drug abuse or alcohol disorders. Education in a behavioral science field such as psychology, counseling, or social work may be substituted for up to one year of the experience requirement.
Natural Disaster means a flood, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, volcanic eruption, fire, wildfire or blizzard that is due to natural causes.
Human being means a person who has been born and is alive.
Catastrophic illness or "Injury" means an illness or injury that is expected to incapacitate the employee for an extended period of time, or that incapacitates a member of the employee's family which incapacity requires the employee to take time off from work for an extended period of time to care for that family member, and taking extended time off work creates a financial hardship for the employee because he or she has exhausted all of his or her sick leave and other paid time off.
Commercial sexual activity means any sex act on account of which anything of value is given to, promised to, or received by any person.
Commercial Fishing Worker means Commercial fishing worker as defined in Section 420.503, F.S.
Permanent radiographic installation means an enclosed shielded room, cell, or vault, not located at a temporary jobsite, in which radiography is performed.
Imminent danger to the health and safety of the public means the existence of any condition or practice, or any violation of a permit or other requirement of this chapter in a surface coal mining and reclamation operation, which condition, practice, or violation could reasonably be expected to cause substantial physical harm to persons outside the permit area before such condition, practice, or violation can be abated. A reasonable expectation of death or serious injury before abatement exists if a rational person, subjected to the same conditions or practices giving rise to the peril, would not expose the person's self to the danger during the time necessary for abatement.
Loss of Sight means the entire and irrecoverable loss of sight.
