Extended Leaves definition

Extended Leaves. Leaves under this category will be extended in length and may involve the absence of a Unit Member for the major portion of a semester and up to one school year in length. During the terms of an extended leave, the Unit Member is not considered to be an active employee of the District and all benefits available to Unit Members within this Agreement shall be frozen for the period of the extended leave. The Unit Member may elect to continue health insurance in the group policy, providing all costs for insurance during such leave are prepaid by the Unit Member.

Examples of Extended Leaves in a sentence

  • Extended Leaves of Absence: As applicable, staff members employed during the 2015-16 school year will be “grandfathered” under the terms of the previous language.

  • Such leaves are subject to the provisions of the Board policy on Extended Leaves.

  • Extended Leaves may be requested in writing by parents who are on or will be on an Adoption Leave.

  • Additional unpaid leave beyond the period of family and medical leave time may be granted under the provisions in Article X (Extended Leaves).

  • Extended Leaves may be requested in writing by parents who are on or will be on a Parental Leave.

  • For Members granted an Extended Leave immediately following a Statutory Leave, all terms and conditions of Extended Leaves shall apply.

  • Section B: Extended Leaves Paragraph 1: Teachers are entitled, subject to administrative approval, to ex- tended leaves for study, foreign teaching as part of a nationally recognized pro- gram, exchange teaching as part of a nationally recognized program, health, illness of spouse, child or parent, maternity, paternity, adoption, military service, campaigning for or serving in a public office, professional activities and profes- sionally related employment.

  • All requests for extended leave under this provision shall be submitted in writing to the Extended Leaves Office in the Human Resources Department.

  • Extended Leaves may be requested in writing by female and male parents who are on or will be on a Parental Leave.

  • Application for such leave shall be made to the Extended Leaves Office of the Human Resources Department at least thirty (30) days in advance of the leave.
