Environmental Flow Needs (EFN) definition

Environmental Flow Needs (EFN) in relation to a stream, means the volume and timing of water flow required for the proper functioning of the aquatic ecosystem of the stream. In relation to Schedule P, the determination of EFN is based on a formula that includes ‘percent of natural flow’ and ‘ecosystem base flow’ components.
Environmental Flow Needs (EFN) in relation to a stream, means the volume and timing of water flow required for the proper functioning of the aquatic ecosystem of the stream (from the WSA). In relation to [Schedule P] and the Water Allocation Tool, EFN is comprised of an Ecosystem Base Flow (EBF) threshold below which no diversion of water is authorized to occur, and a maximum cumulative percentage water allocation value (MWA).2
