Alternative Renewable Energy definition

Alternative Renewable Energy. – means energy derived from the following sources:
Alternative Renewable Energy means that energy produced or generated from the following resources, as defined in Section 1.4 of Act 82-2010:

  • This Regulation is adopted pursuant to Act 57-2014, as amended, known as the Puerto Rico Energy Transformation and RELIEF Act; Act 82-2010, as amended, known as the Public Policy on Energy Diversification by Means of Sustainable and Alternative Renewable Energy in Puerto Rico Act; Act 83-2010, known as the Green Energy Incentives Act; and Act 38-2017, known as the Uniform Administrative Procedure Act of the Government of Puerto Rico (“LPAU”, for its Spanish acronym).

  • Alternative Renewable Energy Producer.- Means the Operator of an Alternative Renewable Energy Source that generates or sells electricity or thermal energy at commercial scale.

  • Energy from Renewable Sources.- The term “Energy from Renewal Sources” means Alternative Renewable Energy or Sustainable Renewable Energy, among other similar sources.

  • Renewable Energy Certificate or REC.- Means a personal property that constitutes a marketable and negotiable asset or commodity that may be purchased, sold, assigned, and transferred between persons for any lawful purpose, which is equal to one (1) megawatt-hour of electric power generated from a Sustainable Renewable Energy Source or Alternative Renewable Energy Source and, in turn, consists of all Environmental and Social Attributes, as defined.

  • Alternative Renewable Energy Source.- Means any energy source that produces electric power through the use of Alternative Renewable Energy, as such term is defined in this Section.

  • To improve national energy security, the government issued the Alternative Renewable Energy Policy, 2013.

  • Energy Attributes.- Means electric power generation benefits (measured in megawatts-hour [MWh] units or fractions) derived from a Sustainable Renewable Energy Source or Alternative Renewable Energy Source, including the use or consumption of electric power and the network’s stability, its production capacity, and its contributions to Puerto Rico’s electric power system.

  • Operator.- Means any person who controls, operates, or manages a Production Unit, High Efficiency Generation System, Sustainable Renewable Energy Source, or Alternative Renewable Energy Source.

  • The Alternative Renewable Energy Policy strives to ensure adequate provision and extensive use of modern energy services in rural areas, which have been largely dependent on firewood and kerosene for cooking, heating and lighting purposes.

  • Renewable Energy Source means an energy source that is not fossil carbon-based, non- renewable or radioactive, and may include solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, landfill gas, or wave, tidal and thermal ocean technologies, and includes a Certified Renewable Energy Source.

  • Renewable energy facility means an electric generation unit or other facility or installation that produces electric energy using a Renewable Energy Source.

  • Renewable energy resource means a resource that naturally replenishes over a human, not a geological, time frame and that is ultimately derived from solar power, water power, or wind power. Renewable energy resource does not include petroleum, nuclear, natural gas, or coal. A renewable energy resource comes from the sun or from thermal inertia of the earth and minimizes the output of toxic material in the conversion of the energy and includes, but is not limited to, all of the following:

  • Planned External Financed Generation Capacity Resource means a Planned External Generation Capacity Resource that, prior to August 7, 2015, has an effective agreement that is the equivalent of an Interconnection Service Agreement, has submitted to the Office of the Interconnection the appropriate certification attesting achievement of Financial Close, and has secured at least 50 percent of the MWs of firm transmission service required to qualify such resource under the deliverability requirements of the Reliability Assurance Agreement.

  • Renewable energy system means a fixture, product, device, or interacting group of fixtures, products, or devices on the customer's side of the meter that use 1 or more renewable energy resources to generate electricity. Renewable energy system includes a biomass stove but does not include an incinerator or digester.

  • Alternative Diesel Fuel means any fuel used in a CI engine that is not commonly or commercially known, sold, or represented by the supplier as diesel fuel No. 1-D or No. 2-D, pursuant to the specifications in ASTM D975-81, “Standard Specification for Diesel Fuel Oils,” as modified in May 1982, which is incorporated herein by reference, or an alternative fuel, and does not require engine or fuel system modifications for the engine to operate, although minor modifications (e.g., recalibration of the engine fuel control) may enhance performance. Examples of alternative diesel fuels include, but are not limited to, biodiesel that does not meet the definition of CARB diesel fuel; Fischer-Tropsch fuels; emulsions of water in diesel fuel; and fuels with a fuel additive, unless:

  • Renewable Resources means one of the following sources of energy: solar, wind, tidal, geothermal, biomass, hydroelectric facilities or digester gas.

  • Renewable Energy Credits or “RECs” – means a renewable energy credit as defined in the Green-e Energy National Standard and shall include all the renewable attributes associated with the applicable level of corresponding energy production.

  • Planned Financed Generation Capacity Resource means a Planned Generation Capacity Resource that, prior to August 7, 2015, has an effective Interconnection Service Agreement and has submitted to the Office of the Interconnection the appropriate certification attesting achievement of Financial Close.
