Common use of Workplace Representatives Clause in Contracts

Workplace Representatives. Where an employee is an official workplace representative, upon proof of their status as endorsed by the relevant Association the following leave shall apply subject to the operational needs of the employer : (a) Leave to attend trade union and union delegate courses/seminars shall be as follows: (1) To a maximum of 3 days per year (1 January to 31 December) for each facility for the totality of all applications of paid union leave, union delegate training leave, attendance at association conferences, meetings and courses provided that: (i) The scope, content and level of the courses are directed to the enhancement of the settlement of dispute/dispute settlement procedure/s; (ii) That two weeks period of notice is given to the employer; (iii) The approval of leave must have regard to the operational requirements of the employer; (iv) The employer shall not unreasonably refuse the employee’s request (b) Leave of absence granted pursuant to this clause shall count as service for all purposes of this agreement.
