Work-Based Training provides more opportunities for workers to earn income while gaining critical job skills. Subrecipient shall ensure WIOA clients participating in work-based training do not replace regular employees and infringe on the promotional opportunities of currently employed individuals. Subrecipient shall comply with Federal, State and local worker displacement prohibitions.
Work-Based Training provides more opportunities for workers to earn income while gaining critical job skills. i. On-the-job training (OJT) - training by an employer that is provided to a paid participant while engaged in productive work in a job that: • Provides knowledge or skills essential to the full and adequate performance of the job; • Provides wage reimbursement to the employer for the extraordinary costs of providing the training and additional supervision related to the training; and • Is limited in duration as appropriate to the occupation for which the participant is being trained, taking into account the content of the training, the prior work experience of the participant, and the service strategy of the participant, as appropriate.

ii. Work Eexperience - Work experience is a planned, structured learning experience that takes place in a workplace and provides participants with opportunities for career exploration and skill development. Work experience programs can be paid or un-paid.
iii. Pre-Apprenticeship Training and curriculum is based on industry standards, approved by documented registered apprenticeship partners(s), and prepares the client with the skills and competencies needed to enter one or more registered apprenticeship program(s). Pre-apprenticeship training must have a documented partnership with at least one registered apprenticeship program.
