Common use of Work Assignments Clause in Contracts

Work Assignments. In all matters relative to new work assignments and opportunities for additional work, the principle of seniority shall prevail, provided, however, that new work assignments and/or the assignment of additional work shall not result in overtime and/or unreasonable travel costs. It is further understood that, due to language requirements, skill requirement and/or “consumer preference,” the Employer may bypass a senior employee who, by virtue of seniority would be given a particular client assignment. In such cases, the assignment will be given to the most senior available employee who can satisfy language/skill requirements and/or “consumer preference.” Additionally, in such cases the Employer shall give the bypassed employee the next opportunity for assignment of additional work, subject to the provisions of this section.
