Vests. For all protective vests replaced after [August 7, 2000], if the integrity of the protective qualities of the vest have not been compromised as determined by the using officer, then the officer may retain the original vest for up to five years past the vest’s expiration date. If the integrity of the protective qualities of the vest have been compromised as determined by the using officer, then it will not be reissued. These vests are to be primarily used for off duty activities. [MOA, August 7, 2000.]
Vests. The Department shall, consistent with its policy, provide the employee with body armor of threat level II or IIIA. Newly-hired employees shall have the option of being provided a voucher in the amount of the Department's cost for the current Department-issued body armor. Exceptions to the requirement that the vest be threat level II or IIIA shall be handled according to Department policy. Vests shall be replaced whenever they are defective, but in no case longer than eight (8) years from their original purchase.
Vests. Bullet proof vests will be replaced once every five years, according to the manufacturer's warranty. There will be an additional expense allowed for these vests, not to exceed twelve hundred dollars ($1,200.00). This charge cannot be used against the existing uniform allowances. All vests are the property of the Township.

The purchase price will not exceed one thousand dollars ($1000). If the amount does exceed one thousand dollars ($1000), it is the responsibility of the employee to cover those costs in excess. Work Boots or Work Shoes must be worn by all field and shop Subcontractors at all times in work areas. Anti-slip soles are recommended. (No white tennis shoes.)
