Vacation Picking. Vacation period shall be picked each year on a basis of departmental seniority during a period of no less than four (4) weeks immediately preceding the beginning of the vacation period, and vacations shall be taken during the periods picked, except that an employee who fails to qualify under the two hundred twenty days (220) of work requirement shall have the option of picking a vacation without pay and should he or she subsequently qualify for a paid vacation before December 31st, he or she shall receive pay for the vacation. For the period 8/1/96 to 12/31/97, a vacation assignment board will be maintained for each work group at each location. In the event that weeks become available for any reason, and provided that the quota for such weeks has previously been filled, within four weeks the vacation assignment board will be updated to include the availability of such open weeks. Any employee in the work group who is less senior than the employee who vacated the weeks may pick the open weeks, provided that he or she submits the designated form to his or her supervisor within five days of the vacation assignment board update. The open weeks will be assigned to the most senior employee applying for such weeks. Any weeks becoming available as a result of this process will be treated as open weeks as described above. It is understood that advance checks normally issued by the payroll department will not be issued if special arrangements are required. The company and union will meet prior to 12/31/97 to determine the continuation of this picking arrangement. This Agreement may be cancelled by either the company or the union with sunset terms similar to Section 12-33 (D) of the current collective bargaining agreement. Should an employee voluntarily, through bidding or picking or otherwise, transfer location, classification or work group (listed in Sections 13-5.1(a), 13-5.1(b) and 13-5.1(c) after vacations are picked, he or she shall repick his or her vacation based upon the weeks which remain open, at that time, in his or her new location, classification and/or work group.

Vacation Picking. Except as otherwise provided in Section 13 of this Agreement, vacation period shall be picked each year on a basis or Departmental Seniority during a period of not less than four (4) weeks immediately preceding the beginning of the vacation period, and vacations shall be taken during the periods picked, except that an employee who fails to qualify under the aforementioned two hundred twenty (220) days of work regulation shall have the option of taking a vacation without pay and should he or she subsequently qualify for a paid vacation before December 31st of the current year, he or she shall be paid the amount of his or her vacation pay. Should he or she choose to work during his or her vacation period and should he or she subsequently qualify for a paid vacation sufficiently prior to December 31st of the current year to permit his or her completing his or her vacation before that date, the Company shall schedule the most satisfactory vacation possible for the employee. Open weeks for any reason during the period from the third Sunday in June through August and weeks with a basic holiday, as defined in Paragraph 18-5, shall be posted for five (5) days for repicking.
Vacation Picking. Vacations will be scheduled on a calendar week basis commencing on Sunday and terminating on Saturday. Vacation picking shall begin no later than December 1st of each year, and to be completed prior to the last Sunday in December. The Union pledges its cooperation with the Company to insure that there are no undue delays in handling the pick, nor any additional expense to the Company.

Personnel going on vacation during the vacation-picking period (November 15, through December 31) will designate another member of their platoon to pick for them in their absence. When it is an employee’s turn to pick they will have 72 hours from the time they are notified to submit their picks to the station 7 Captain (or person designated to handle the vacation picks or they will forfeit their turn and “pass” will be written in their place. First Pick: Any number of shifts between one (1) and eight (8) within four (4) consecutive tours. Second Pick: Any number of shifts between one (1) and four (4) within two (2) consecutive tours. Third pick or later, half (1/2) shifts may be taken. On the third pick or later a maximum of four and one half (4 1/2) shifts may be taken. Six half (1/2) shift vacation picks (12hr VAC) may be picked in a single year. Half Shift vacation picks must be taken between 0800 hours and 2000 hours or 2000 hours and 0800 hours. (NO EXCEPTIONS) Only two (2) employees may select a vacation day at a time. The Fire Chief or Deputy Chief may grant a third employee the ability to be on vacation at the same time. Each shift will maintain a vacation pick log. This log will be maintained by a designated Company Officer or appropriate designated personnel and will be made available to each member when it is his or her turn to pick. This log may be kept digitally. Vacation may be picked out of turn by getting approval of the entire shift. If a member does not want to make a selection when their turn is due, “pass” will be indicated in the log and sign or initial the same. If a member decides to change their vacation or fails to pick a vacation by December 31, they must select from what time is still available without affecting other members selections.
Vacation Picking. Office, Clerical, Scheduling Department, Planning Department and Customer Service Department employees (with the exception of manager of scheduling) will pick their vacation for the following year each December. Employees will be permitted to change scheduled vacation dates after picking with management approval based on departmental needs. The Company reserves the right to designate “blackout” weeks each calendar year, in each applicable department, in which no vacation in the department may be used. No vacation advance. The manager of scheduling and the planning department employees will not pick vacation and will instead request vacation time at least one (1) week prior to the requested vacation date. Management will approve or deny the request within three (3) business days of the request.

  • Weeks Vacation Subject to Article 17.08 and Article 17.01 (a) (ii), employees shall be entitled to take five (5) weeks vacation leave with pay during the first and subsequent complete fiscal years following the date in which they complete fourteen (14) years of service. Such leave shall be earned at the rate of two and one-twelfth (2 1/12) days for each completed calendar month of service.

  • Sick Leave While on Vacation An employee who while on vacation is incapacitated for one (1) or more days due to personal illness or injury may charge such days to accrued sick leave. In such event, the employee promptly shall notify his department, and upon return to duty shall substantiate the need for, and use of, sick leave.

  • Vacation Buy Back Employees shall have the option of requesting pay in lieu of time off up to a maximum of 144 hours of vacation time each year, during each year of the contract in increments of eight (8) hrs. Such requests are subject to the approval of the department head and the availability of funds.

  • Vacation During the Employment Period, the Executive shall be entitled to paid vacation in accordance with the most favorable plans, policies, programs and practices of the Company and its affiliated companies as in effect for the Executive at any time during the 120-day period immediately preceding the Effective Date or, if more favorable to the Executive, as in effect generally at any time thereafter with respect to other peer executives of the Company and its affiliated companies.

  • Vacation Planning The following general rules shall be observed in implementing the vacation planning program:

  • Sick Leave Donation Program A Labor Management Committee will be established for the purpose of proposing rules and procedures for a new, program. The LMC will be to develop consistent, transparent and equitable proposals for processes across all departments within the City. The LMC shall also explore proposals to lower the minimum leave bank required to donate sick leave and permit donation of sick leave upon separation from the City. The LMC must consult with the Office of Civil Rights to ensure compliance with the City’s Race and Social Justice Initiative. Once the LMC has developed its list of proposals, the City and Coalition of City Unions agrees to reopen each contract on this subject.

  • Banked Vacation Once every five years an employee may bank one full year's vacation to be taken in conjunction with the next year's vacation. For the purposes of this clause, all vacation in the second year must be taken concurrently.

  • VACATIONS 13.01 All employees who are regularly scheduled seventy-five (75) hours on a bi- weekly basis shall receive vacations with pay based on length of full-time continuous service as follows:

  • Paid Vacation Except as otherwise provided in this Article, paid vacation shall be granted no longer than the fiscal year immediately following the fiscal year in which it is earned.

  • SICK LEAVE PROGRAM An employee may be eligible to receive donations of paid leave to be included in the employee's sick leave balance if s/he has suffered a catastrophic illness or injury which prevents the employee from being able to work or from being able to work his/her regularly scheduled number of hours. Catastrophic illness or injury is defined as a critical medical condition considered to be terminal, or a long-term major physical impairment or disability.
