Theses. At the end of their study program, the students nominated for the DD program shall produce a master thesis written in German. It is stipulated in the AAU curriculum that this thesis may also be written in the student’s mother tongue (Italian). The value in ECTS credit is equivalent to 24 ECTS. The work related to the thesis may foresee/consider detailed studies in areas of interest. The thesis shall be presented at both institutions. The students nominated for the DD program will complete their master thesis in either the home or the host institution. To this purpose, each student nominated for the DD program will choose one main supervisor from the institution where the thesis work is carried out. A second supervisor shall be allocated from the other institution. The master final exam will include an oral defence of the thesis work and will be given at the home institution. The exam final grade will be given on the basis of the student's career and of the thesis defence. Independent grades will be assigned according to the criteria of both institutions. After the final exam, an official document will be filled and signed by the examination board in agreement with the administrative rules of both institutions. This document will trigger the final degree release by both institutions. Thereafter, the student shall be awarded the degree "Mag.phil." by the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt and the degree “Dottere / Dottoressa Magistrale in Lingue e letterature europee ed extraeuropee, curriculum letteratura austriaca”, from academic year 2016/17 onwards “Dottere / Dottoressa Magistrale in Lingue e letterature europee ed extraeuropee, curriculum letteratura e cultura austriaca” by the University of Udine, with all the legal effects in both countries.

Variations of the exam procedure and board composition may be adopted according to changes of the corresponding procedures of either institution. The exam final grade will be given on the basis of the student's career and of the thesis defence. Independent grades will be assigned according to the criteria of both institutions. After the final exam, an official document will be filled and signed by the examination board in agreement with the administrative rules of both institutions.
