Common use of Temporary Professional Clause in Contracts

Temporary Professional. a. An employee may be granted professional leave with pay for up to ten (10) duty days, to attend classes (which may include travel time) for earning the required hours for renewal or extension of his/her certificate or license, or for certification in a new teaching area during a five (5) year period. The leave must be requested at least ten duty days prior to the effective date of the leave. b. An employee may be granted professional leave without pay for working toward advanced degrees, not to exceed ten duty days at the beginning or at the close of the school year in order to attend summer school classes, except that this leave may not be taken when assigned students. The leave may include consideration of reasonable travel time. c. Evidence of acceptance in an institution of higher learning must be attached to any request for professional leave to attend a college or university program.
