Temporary Faculty. 27.1 For the purposes of Article 27, temporary faculty are those faculty that are not contract or regular faculty as defined by the Education Code. Temporary faculty are those faculty members hired as categorical, long-term substitute, short-term temporaries, temporary replacements, demand temporaries, disability leave replacements, sabbatical leave replacements, and load banking leave replacements. However, any faculty member that is entitled to earn tenure (e.g., EOPS and DSPS) shall not be considered a “temporary employee” for purposes of Article 27.

Temporary Faculty. A temporary faculty member is one who is assigned two or more continuous teaching blocks each of three months or greater and with a workload within each of 50% or greater with no breaks greater than 31 days between the blocks. Earned vacation and P.D. arising from the initial qualifying period may be scheduled in between teaching and accountable time assignments to maintain continuity of benefits. When temporary positions are not identified in advance, contract faculty who subsequently qualify as above will be made temporary retroactive to the qualifying date.

Temporary Faculty. Any person who is employed to teach classes for not more than sixty-seven (67) percent of the hours per week that are considered a full-time assignment for regular employees having comparable duties shall be classified as a temporary employee, and shall not become a contract employee. Service as a substitute on a day-to-day basis shall not be used for purposes of calculating eligibility for contract or regular status. Full-time temporary faculty, such as full-time sabbatical leave replacements, are represented by the Faculty Assembly and subject to the applicable conditions set forth in this Agreement.

Related to Temporary Faculty

  • Temporary Layoff The Employer may temporarily layoff an employee for up to ninety (90) days due to an unanticipated loss of funding, revenue shortfall, lack of work, shortage of material or equipment, or other unexpected or unusual reasons. An employee will normally receive seven (7) days notice of a temporary layoff.

  • Temporary Upgrade An employee in a temporary upgrade status shall have no right to grieve or arbitrate release from such temporary upgrade status.

  • Temporary Layoffs A. The Employer may initiate a temporary layoff for up to twelve (12) working days per fiscal year. Employees will be given thirty (30) days’ notice before the effective date of a temporary layoff. Employees may request alternative temporary layoff days from their manager or supervisor and any requests will be considered and approved or denied in writing.

Until so exchanged, such temporary Bonds shall in all respects be entitled to the same benefits under this Indenture as Definitive Bonds.

  • Temporary Position A temporary position may be established by the employer to provide alternative work for an employee pending an expected suitable vacancy. If the vacancy does not eventuate then the surplus staff provisions will apply.
