Technical Employees. To enable the Company to keep its products abreast of scientific and technical advance, it is agreed that the Company may from time to time, and without reference to the rules of seniority set out in the contract, employ and utilize a number of technical men or others, not to exceed ten (10) at any one time, as designated by the Company. When an employee is designated by the Company as a technical employee under this sub article, the Company agrees to give written notice of such designation to the Union. A qualified employee who has been bypassed by the company in the implementation of Article 7.12(7), in favour of an employee with less seniority, shall have the right to process a grievance in accordance with the provisions of Article 5.05 hereof.
Technical Employees. Those health practitioners who have a minimum qualification of a Diploma (or equivalent), and are responsible for the operation of, and sometimes interpretation of, data from healthcare apparatus. Classification at HP1 level is reserved exclusively for employees in the process of completing prerequisite educational or training requirements for roles housed under HP2 or HP3 classification levels. Roles at Health Practitioner 1 are those with an active focus on building toward the attainment of a recognised or acceptable level of knowledge and skill in their given domain. Requiring only a narrow set of knowledge and skills in their given discipline, these roles involve the performance of basic duties under the close clinical practice supervision of more experienced Health Practitioners in the given domain, with the quality of work output closely assessed. Roles may be referred to as cadetships, traineeship or scholarship roles.
Technical Employees. For purposes of this Agreement, the term personnel or employees shall mean those employees included in this agreement and in positions listed in Appendix A.

Technical Employees. (a) The Employer and the Union shall appoint an equal number of members to the Joint Training Committee. At least one (1) of the union members will have journeyman status. The Joint Training Committee shall have jurisdiction over the apprenticeship training program and apprenticeship progression. The Joint Training Committee shall also evaluate new technical employees, based on past experience and qualifications and decide where they will be positioned according to the apprenticeship progression system. (b) The Joint Training Committee shall establish minimum standards for each step of progression in the apprenticeship progression system and will require each technical employee to demonstrate to the Committee that he/she is capable of achieving these standards or progression will not take place. (c) All new technical employees will be enrolled into the prescribed course of study as laid out by the Joint Training Committee and must progress to the second-year level. Such technical employees must achieve the standards set out by the Committee within the Committee’s allotted time frame to retain employment.

Technical Employees. Effective on February 21, 2001, a weekend shift differential of five percent (5%) of the straight time rate shall be granted to technical employees added to the unit Case No. 32-RC-4772 who work a weekend shift. (See 7.6 c for applicability of seven per cent (7%) weekend differential.)

Whereas employees classified as Caretakers currently work a variety of shift schedules throughout the jurisdiction of the two (2) predecessor Boards, Whereas Article 17.03 of the Collective Agreement provides that employees classified as Caretakers shall have their hours of work assigned by the Controller of Plant and Planning Services, then During the life of this agreement, there is no intention to change the schedule of shifts as it currently exists unless as mutually agreed. Signed at Napanee, this 30th day of August, 2001 This will confirm the agreement reached at negotiations related to the use of a Redeployment Committee in cases of lay-off as a result of cutbacks in staffing. The parties agree that a Redeployment Committee will be called upon at the request of either the Board or the Union. The Redeployment Committee will consist of joint and equal representation from the Board and the Union. Each party may appoint up to three (3) representatives to the Committee. The mandate of the committee will be to review and recommend alternatives to the Board on the proposed cutbacks in staffing. The committee will determine its own terms of reference. Signed at Napanee, this 7th day of February, 2003. The protocol for Employees to resolve alleged unwarranted physical contact by students is as follows: 1. Employees should follow established protocol that has been developed with input from the Employee(s), SERT, Classroom Teacher and the Principal. 2. Discuss with Teacher. 3. Where further input is required regarding the resolution, the Educational Assistant will discuss it with the Principal of the School who will work with the Team to resolve the issue. 4. If further assistance is required the Educational Assistant may contact, in writing, the Superintendent of Education responsible for the school outlining the issue, the steps taken to date to resolve it and suggested solutions.
