SWAT Nurses Clause Samples

The "SWAT Nurses" clause defines the role and deployment of specialized nursing staff, often referred to as SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) nurses, within a healthcare facility. This clause typically outlines the qualifications required for these nurses, the situations in which they may be assigned—such as responding to critical incidents, providing rapid response support, or covering staffing shortages—and the scope of their responsibilities. By clearly delineating the use and authority of SWAT nurses, the clause ensures that emergency or high-need situations are managed efficiently and that patient care standards are maintained during periods of increased demand or crisis.

A SWAT nurse who has been assigned to work on a particular unit, and is considered core staff for that unit, will rotate low census with the nurses on that unit. A SWAT nurse who has been assigned to work on a particular unit, and is not considered core staff for that unit, will be low censused prior to assigning low census to nurses regularly assigned to that unit. The Hospital will maintain a list of nurses who are considered core staff for each unit. This list shall be updated on a monthly basis.
