Meters shall be provided with separate external bronze case or strainer built into the inlet end of the stainless steel plate type with a removable cover plate permitting easy access to the strainer for routine cleaning. They shall be rigid, easily removable and have an effective straining area at least double that of the meter main case inlet. Separate external strainer connections shall conform to the main case and shall be accompanied by gaskets, bolts and nuts.
