SENIORITY ENTITLEMENT DEFINED. (a) Seniority: For all purposes of this Agreement, with the exception of layoff and recall, “seniority” shall be defined as an employee’s length of continuous service within a classification from the date of appointment to that classification. However, in circumstances where two (2) or more employees are employed by the Employer on the same date in the same classification, their position on the seniority list shall be determined by drawing the names by lot. For the purpose of layoff and recall pursuant to Article 10.03, “seniority” shall be defined as an employee’s length of continuous service within a Department from the date of appointment to a classification within that Department.

In any case where a Part-Time employee believes that he is working a majority of his hours in a classifica- tion other than the one for which he was hired, or other than the one to which he was subsequent1 transferred, he may to the Employer to be to such other and if it can be established that he has been working more hours in another classification, he shall be transferred into the new classification, and shall be given a seniority start date that coincides with the date of his transfer into the new classification.
