Retraining and Study Leave. 9.16.1 The Employer recognizes the desirability of Unit Members to seek retraining and study to improve the effectiveness of a Unit Member in his/her present position and/or to prepare him/her for advancement. To this end, a Unit Member is encouraged to take advantage of educational opportunities which are in the best interests of both the Unit Member and the Employer.
