Retraining and Study Leave. 8.16.1 A leave of absence for study/retraining may be granted to any member of the bargaining unit.
Retraining and Study Leave. 9.16.1 The Employer recognizes the desirability of Unit Members to seek retraining and study to improve the effectiveness of a Unit Member in his/her present position and/or to prepare him/her for advancement. To this end, a Unit Member is encouraged to take advantage of educational opportunities which are in the best interests of both the Unit Member and the Employer.

Retraining and Study Leave. 12.1.1 The District may grant a classified employee a leave of absence not to exceed one year for the purpose of permitting study by the employee or for the purpose of retraining the employee provided such leave is useful in meeting changing conditions within the District. The decision to grant such leaves and compensation granted during such leaves shall be in compliance with the California Education Codes.

Dependent upon District needs, and with the approval of the Superintendent/designee, leaves may be requested of the Board of Education for purposes of obtaining specific training and/or study in a specified area, as may be required of the individual employee’s assignment.
