Common use of Relief Pay Clause in Contracts

Relief Pay. An employee who is assigned to perform the major duties and responsibilities of a higher rated position in the bargaining unit for a period of one hour or more shall be paid the rate that applies to the higher position for the time spent in the position. The higher rated pay (relief pay) is processed when the employee chooses to be paid. If the employee chooses to bank the time, it will be paid at the prevailing rate.
