Reducing Substance Misuse Clause Samples
Reducing Substance Misuse. The Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) remit extends across the main themes of the National Drug Strategy and given that the DAAT partnerships comprise all key partners in Lancashire. Over the last two years the main achievements of the partnership are: • Re-commissioning substance misuse treatment services for young people based on a new service specific delivered by three locality teams. These services are worth over £1m per annum and are delivered by two voluntary sector organisations. For example, in East Lancashire the service provides a targeted prevention service for young people of South Asian origin which is delivered through an outreach model. • Re-commissioning criminal justice treatment services during 2006 resulting with a county wide contract worth £2.3m. Efficiencies of over £500k were realised during the process and a clear and simple system of performance management has been put in place. These services have made a significant contribution to the reductions in acquisitive crime across the county. • Targets for numbers of people accessing treatment and waiting times have remained consistently within the national target of three weeks. • Production of a county wide action plane and a guidance document for schools called ‘A Good Day at School’. • Two Police Community Support Officers are specifically attached to Operation Nimrod which is aimed at the disruption of drug dealing within Lancashire communities. The PCSOs have developed an important role in community re-assurance and intelligence gathering after the strike phase of the operation.
