Recognized Holidays. 2201 For purposes of this Agreement, Recognized (paid) Holidays shall be New Year's Day (January 1st), ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st), the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and Boxing Day (December 26th); and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days off, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one (1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. If the accumulated lieu days are not taken within the fiscal year earned the accumulated days will be paid out at one and one half (1.5) times their basic rate of pay. Upon written request, a nurse may carryover up to four (4) days in lieu to the next fiscal year. During the fiscal year that Good Friday and Easter Monday statutory holidays occur in March, the nurse may exceed four (4) days in lieu by the two (2) Easter statutory holidays. 2207 For the purpose of this Article, a day is equivalent to seven and three-quarter (7.75) hours.

Recognized Holidays. 2201 For purposes 24.1 Upon hire, all employees who qualify under Article 24.7 shall be entitled to ten (10) recognized holidays. These holidays shall be fixed in accordance with the schedule published annually by GO Transit. An employee who has completed their probationary period shall be entitled to an additional two (2) days to be taken as floaters. 24.2 If the Governor General or the Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario proclaims an additional statutory holiday during the term of this Agreementagreement for the employees covered by this agreement which compels the observance of this holiday over and above the agreed number of holidays indicated above, Recognized (paid) Holidays this Article will be amended to provide for such additional paid holiday.
24.3 An employee who qualifies in accordance with the provisions of this agreement shall be New Year's Day granted a holiday with pay equivalent to eight (January 1st)8) hours pay at his/her straight time hourly rate, ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st)except in the case of a probationary employee who shall be paid in accordance with the Employment Standards Act of Ontario.
24.4 If any of the paid holidays fall on a non-working day for an employee, the first Monday employee must elect to receive pay in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day accordance with the Employment Standards Act of Ontario or a lieu day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and Boxing Day (December 26th); and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days off, it is understood that this day off in lieu which shall be banked deemed to be the holiday and paid in accordance with the Employment Standards Act of Ontario and the employee’s eligibility at the time of the holiday) at some later date as may be mutually agreed upon between the parties, but within ninety (90) calendar days. This election must be made ten (10) days prior to the holiday. Should the lieu day not be taken within ninety (90) calendar days, then the employee shall receive pay equivalent to what he/she would have received at the time of the holiday in accordance with the Employment Standards Act of Ontario. Should the employee fail to elect an option, he/she shall receive pay as stated above. Should the employee elect to take a lieu day, he/she must notify the Company when he/she intends to take such a day in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive 24.9.
24.5 If an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse employee is required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall any of his/her recognized holiday, he/she will be paid at the rate of one time and one-half of his/her normal regular rate for all hours worked on that day.

Unless otherwise mutually agreed between the nurse nurse(s) concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days Recognized Holidays must be taken within in the fiscal year in which they were earned. 2207 A nurse working on the shift commencing at or about midnight shall be deemed to have worked on a holiday if the majority of hours worked fall within the day in question regardless of what calendar day any part of such shift was actually worked.

29.2 When any of this Agreementthe above holidays falls on a Saturday or Sunday, Recognized (paid) Holidays for employees on the regular Monday to Friday work week schedule, the Monday succeeding such holiday shall be New Year's Day (January 1st), ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st), designated by the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th)County as the day of observance of such holiday, and Boxing Day (December 26th); it is agreed that any premium payable for working on a designated holiday shall not apply to such Saturday or Sunday.
29.3 If a Recognized Holiday occurs during a full-time employee's vacation period, such employee shall be granted another vacation day off with pay in lieu thereof at a time convenient to the requirements of the Employer with the wishes of the employee given full consideration. In cases where an employee is assigned the duties and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever responsibilities of a higher paying classification, for a minimum of one week, and a Recognized Holiday falls within such one week period, that is to say, not the first day or last day of such assignment, the employee shall receive the applicable rate for the higher paying classification for the Recognized Holiday.
29.4 A full-time employee on herthe seniority list and presently actively employed and on the payroll shall receive pay at basic rate/his daily salary as set out in Schedule “A” times regularly scheduled days off, it is understood that daily hours for each Holiday listed in this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or if:
(a) the nurse may request that a day in lieu of full-time employee works their scheduled shift immediately preceding and succeeding the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on unless absence is the result of personal illness or accident in which case the Employer may require verification by a date mutually agreed medical doctor's certificate as to the illness or accident;
(b) the full-time employee who has been recalled must work the day before and the day after the Holiday since returning to work, and is not entitled to a Recognized Holiday between the Employer date of layoff and the nursereturn to work.
(c) For part-time employees the entitlement to holiday pay on any of the aforementioned recognized paid holidays shall be subject to the Employment Standards Act, or the nurse as amended.
29.5 The Employer may request that she/he receive require an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required employee to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at Holiday. An employee who is scheduled to work on the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one
(1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday is observed by the Employer shall be added receive:
(a) in addition to the pay provided for under Article 29.4, double (2X) basic hourly salary times all hours worked on Holidays listed in this Article; or,
(b) no payment under Article 29.4 if the employee does not report for work and does not have a weekend off or reason satisfactory to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The the Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with 1501. Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days must be taken within the fiscal year in which they were earnedfor not so reporting.

Recognized Holidays. 2201 11.1 Employees who have passed their probationary period are provided with the following public holidays: New Year’s Day; Family Day; Good Friday; Victoria Day; Canada Day; Labour Day; Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Day; and, Boxing Day. In addition, the Company provides the August Civic Holiday as a public holiday. Family Day will be deleted from the collective agreement in the event the government repeals the holiday.
11.2 The Company will provide two additional days (“Floating Days”) to employees that employees may take off with pay within the calendar year. Such paid days off are subject to approval of the Department Head and operational needs. For purposes clarity, such Floating Days may not be carried over and are not paid out if not taken within the calendar year.
11.3 On non-publishing days, as determined by the Company, employees not required to work may elect to use a vacation day, lieu day or Floating Day (if any of this Agreementsuch days are available to the employee), Recognized (paid) Holidays otherwise non- publishing days shall be New Year's Day (January 1st), ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st), the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and Boxing Day (December 26th); and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days off, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of without pay. 2203 A nurse .
11.4 Employees required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall non-publishing day will be paid at their regular wages for the hours worked on the day. Non-publishing days falling on any other day than those listed above shall not be treated as Recognized Holidays.
11.5 For Advertising Salespersons, the Employment Standards Act, 2000 shall apply with respect to public holidays and Article 11 shall not apply.
(a) Where a public holiday falls on a “publishing day”, the Employer may require employees to work on that day or the Employer may schedule employees on that day and the Guild agrees that the employees will work on that day if scheduled. In that instance, the employees will be paid:
(i) public holiday pay equal to one regular day’s pay; and,
(ii) double time for the employee’s shift on the public holiday (two times the hourly rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that onethe employee’s entire shift on the public holiday).
(1b) Where the employer determines that the day off before a public holiday will be a non-publishing day, Article 11.3 shall apply.
(c) This Article does not apply to Advertising Salespersons who continue to be banked in accordance with governed by Article 220611.5 of the collective agreement and the Employment Standards Act, or the nurse may request that 2000.
(d) A “publishing day” is a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between which the Employer and produces a newspaper for publication (which is generally published the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra following day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. 9.02 If the Governor General or the Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec proclaims an additional general holiday during the term of this agreement for the employees covered by this agreement which compels the observance of this holiday over and above the agreed number of holidays indicated above, this Article will be amended to provide for such additional paid holiday.
9.03 An employee who qualifies in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that provisions of this agreement shall be granted a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s holiday with pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required as follows:
1) Employees who are normally assigned to work on the day a Recognized Holiday general holiday is observed and who are not required to work, shall be paid equivalent to the wages the employee would have earned had they worked, no less than the basic day. Hours apply to the weekly guarantee and to the calculation of weekly overtime.
2) Employees who are normally assigned to work on the day a general holiday is observed and who are required to work, shall be paid in addition to the pay provided in Article 9.03 (1), at the a rate of equal to one and one-half (1.50) times her/his the employee’s regular rate of wages for actual hours worked by the employee on that holiday, no less than the basic pay day; or at the employee’s option shall be paid at a rate equal to one and in addition it is understood one-half the employee’s regular rate of wages for actual hours worked by the employee on that one
(1) holiday, no less than the basic day, and be given another day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or pay at a mutually agreed to time. Straight time hours apply to the nurse may request that weekly guarantee and a day in lieu maximum of eight (8) hours to the calculation of weekly overtime.
3) Employees whose vacation period coincides with any of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he general holidays specified in Article 9.01 shall receive an extra day’s 's vacation with pay added to that vacation schedule, or at the employees’ option be given another day off with pay at her/his a mutually agreed to time. Alternatively, the employee may elect to receive payment in the form a basic day at their straight time classification rate of pay as determined by their last day worked prior to that annual vacation
4) Employees whose scheduled day off coincides with any of the general holidays specified in Article 9.01 shall be given a scheduled workday off with pay at a mutually agreed to time. Alternatively, the employee may elect to receive payment in the form of a basic day at their straight time classification rate of pay as determined by their last day worked prior to that General Holiday. These straight time hours are used in the calculation of weekly overtime and are over and above any guarantees.
9.04 An employee will not be qualified for a paid holiday if:
1) The employee is on an authorized leave of absence without pay for more than five (5) days prior to or following the holiday;
2) The employee is receiving sickness benefits;
3) The employee is absent by reason of layoff for more than five (5) working days prior to the holiday;
4) The employee is receiving CNESST benefits.
9.05 In order to qualify for such recognized holidays, except as provided for in Article 9.04, an employee:
1) Must have worked the last regular scheduled shift before and the first regular scheduled shift immediately following the observed holiday and/or any designated lieu day, unless the employee is able to demonstrate that there was reasonable cause for such absence.
2) Must have worked on the holiday if scheduled to work, unless the employee is able to demonstrate that there was reasonable cause for such absence.
3) Elected Union Officers absent for union business does not disqualify for general holiday.
9.06 Spareboard employees who are normally assigned to protect work on the day a general holiday is observed and who are relieved from protecting work will be provided the day off with pay in the form of a basic day at their straight time classification rate of pay. 2204 A Hours apply to the weekly guarantee and to the calculation of weekly overtime.
9.07 Spareboard employees who are assigned to protect work on the day a general holiday is observed and who are not called to work, will be provided a day off given with pay in lieu the form a basic day at their straight time classification rate of pay. Hours apply to the weekly guarantee and to the calculation of weekly overtime.
9.08 Spareboard employees who are assigned to protect work on the day a Recognized Holiday shall general holiday is observed and who are called to work, will be added governed by Article 9.03 (2). Straight time hours apply to the weekly guarantee and a weekend off or maximum of eight (8) hours to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu the calculation of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with 1501. Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days must be taken within the fiscal year in which they were earnedweekly overtime.

Also, each full-time employee who has completed probation as outlined in Article
6.01 of this Agreement shall receive two (2) additional recognized holidays during each calendar year, prorated by major fraction in the first calendar year, to be scheduled taken on a date mutually days to be agreed on between the Employer employee and their supervisor, or, if necessary, to replace a provincial holiday mandated by law.
18.02 An employee shall receive holiday pay in accordance with 18.03 of this Article, provided the employee will not be paid if:
(a) they have been absent from work on either their last scheduled work day before or his first scheduled work day after such holiday; or
(b) they have failed to work such holiday when scheduled to work; or
(c) they are on leave of absence on the day of the holiday. An employee will receive holiday pay if they are absent on any of the above days in (a) and (b) and provides a reason satisfactory to the Employer. Notwithstanding, an employee who has not worked in the thirty (30) day period immediately preceding a recognized holiday will not be entitled to holiday pay.
18.03 For the purposes of Article 18.02, holiday pay shall be as follows:
(a) If a recognized holiday occurs on what would otherwise have been an employee’s scheduled work day and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse employee is not required to work on that day, the employee shall receive basic salary for that day.
(b) If a Recognized Holiday recognized holiday occurs on an employee’s scheduled day off, the employee is entitled to receive a lieu day off with pay. If such a day off is not scheduled the employee shall be paid at receive a premium in the rate amount of one and one-half (1.501½) times her/his the employee’s basic pay and in addition it is understood that one
(1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that salary for a day in lieu of addition to basic salary for the Recognized Holiday be scheduled week.
(c) If an employee works on a date mutually recognized holiday, the employee shall receive a premium of one-half (½) times basic salary and a lieu day off with pay. If such a day off is not scheduled, the employee shall receive a further premium in the amount of one and one-half (1½) times the employee’s basic salary for a day in addition to basic salary for the week.
(d) Holiday pay will be calculated based on relevant provincial legislation.
18.04 The Employer will endeavour to take into consideration the wishes of affected employees in the scheduling of lieu days.
18.05 The premiums set out in Article 18.03 will normally be paid in cash unless otherwise agreed between the Employer employee and the nurseEmployer.
18.06 If a recognized holiday occurs during an employee’s vacation, or the nurse may request that she/he they shall receive an extra day of vacation with vacation pay at their basic salary, an extra day’s pay computed at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A time and a half or an extra day off given in at a time mutually agreeable between the employee and their Bureau Chief.
18.07 An employee whose workday begins on Christmas Day shall receive two and one-half (2½) times basic pay for the work plus a lieu of day under Article 19.03 (c). Although Christmas Eve is not a Recognized Holiday statutory holiday, an employee who works a night shift on Christmas Eve shall be added receive two and one-half (2½) times basic salary for the work, but no lieu day. An employee who works both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day shall receive only the Christmas Day premium and lieu day. The same arrangement shall apply to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas New Year’s Eve and New Year's, endeavouring ’s Day.
18.08 An employee who is called in to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Daywork on a recognized holiday shall receive a minimum of seven (7) hours pay at the appropriate premium rate.
18.09 The above Sections apply to full-time and temporary employees only. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day Part-time employees required to work on a recognized holiday shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Recognized Holidays. 2201 For purposes of this Agreement, Recognized (paid) Holidays shall be New Year's Day (January 1st), ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day ▇▇▇ (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st), the first Monday in August▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇), Labour Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30th), Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and Boxing Day (December 26th); and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his their scheduled days off, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he they receive an extra day’s pay at her/his their basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his their basic pay and in addition it is understood that one
one (1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he they receive an extra day’s pay at her/his the nurse’s basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring endeavoring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's DayDay with a minimum of five (5) consecutive days off if at all possible. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to a maximum of four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with Article 1501. Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days must be taken within the fiscal year in which they were earned. If the accumulated lieu days are not taken within the fiscal year earned the accumulated days will be paid out at one and one half (1.5) times their basic rate of pay. Upon written request, a nurse may carryover up to four (4) days in lieu to the next fiscal year. During the fiscal year that Good Friday and Easter Monday statutory holidays occur in March, the nurse may exceed four (4) days in lieu by the two (2) Easter statutory holidays. 2207 For the purpose of this Article, a day is equivalent to seven and three-quarter (7.75) hours.

Nurses 2206 A nurse working on the shift commencing at or about midnight shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years deemed to have worked on a Holiday if the majority of hours worked falls within that Holiday in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreedquestion regardless of what calendar day any part of such shift was actually worked. 2206 2207 Assignment of Recognized Holidays on the actual day of their occurrence shall be made as equitably as reasonably possible. 2208 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with Article 1501. Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days must be taken within the fiscal year in which they were earned. Requests to utilize accumulated lieu time must be submitted no later than October 1st, in order to clear all banks by December 15th of each year, and if not requested, shall be scheduled by the Employer.

Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A full-time nurse may accumulate up to a total of four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested the nurse requests in writing and granted receives approval in accordance with 1501. Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned Employer and the Employernurse, accumulated days in lieu days of Recognized Holidays must be taken within in the fiscal year in which they were earnedtwelve (12) month period between April 1 and the following March 31. If a nurse has not requested her/his banked day(s) off by February 15th, the nurse shall be paid for the day(s) at her/his regular rate of pay on the pay period immediately following.

Unless otherwise mutually agreed between the nurse nurse(s) concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days Recognized Holidays must be taken within the fiscal year at a mutually acceptable time. Any banked days not scheduled by January 1st for use by March 31st will be assigned by the Employer in which they were earnedconsultation with the nurse. 2207 Unless otherwise mutually agreed, a nurse who is assigned to work a weekend shall be assigned and will work on a Recognized Holiday that falls on the Friday or Monday consecutive with that weekend.

Recognized Holidays. 2201 For purposes 28.1 The following Holidays are recognized: New Years' Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Easter Monday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Canada Day Boxing Day Civic Holiday and any day proclaimed by the Federal, Provincial or County Government.
28.2 When any of this Agreementthe above holidays falls on a Saturday or Sunday, Recognized (paid) Holidays for employees on the regular Monday to Friday work week schedule, the Monday succeeding such holiday shall be New Year's Day (January 1st), ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st), designated by the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th)County as the day of observance of such holiday, and Boxing Day (December 26th); it is agreed that any premium payable for working on a designated holiday shall not apply to such Saturday or Sunday.
28.3 If a Recognized Holiday occurs during a full-time employee's vacation period, such employee shall be granted another vacation day off with pay in lieu thereof at a time convenient to the requirements of the Employer with the wishes of the employee given full consideration. In cases where an employee is assigned the duties and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever responsibilities of a higher paying classification, for a minimum of one week, and a Recognized Holiday falls within such one week period, that is to say, not the first day or last day of such assignment, the employee shall receive the applicable rate for the higher paying classification for the Recognized Holiday.
28.4 A full-time employee on herthe seniority list and presently actively employed and on the payroll shall receive pay at basic rate/his daily salary as set out in Schedule “A” times regularly scheduled days off, it is understood that daily hours for each Holiday listed in this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or if:
(a) the nurse may request that a day in lieu of full-time employee works his/her scheduled shift immediately preceding and succeeding the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on unless absence is the result of personal illness or accident in which case the Employer may require verification by a date mutually agreed medical doctor's certificate as to the illness or accident;
(b) the full-time employee who has been recalled must work the day before and the day after the Holiday since returning to work, and is not entitled to a Recognized Holiday between the Employer date of layoff and the nursereturn to work.
(c) For part-time employees the entitlement to holiday pay on any of the aforementioned recognized paid holidays shall be subject to the Employment Standards Act, or the nurse as amended.
28.5 The Employer may request that she/he receive require an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required employee to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at Holiday. An employee who is scheduled to work on the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one
(1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday is observed by the Employer shall be added receive:
(a) in addition to the pay provided for under Article 28.4, double (2X) basic hourly salary times all hours worked on Holidays listed in this Article; or,
(b) no payment under Article 28.4 if the employee does not report for work and does not have a weekend off or reason satisfactory to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The the Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with 1501. Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days must be taken within the fiscal year in which they were earnedfor not so reporting.

Recognized Holidays. 2201 For purposes of this Agreement16.01 Upon hire, Recognized (paid) Holidays all employees who qualify shall be entitled to ten (10) recognized holidays may adjust their published service schedule and reduce regular service on a day subsequent to the actual day of the recognized Holiday. 16.02 If the Governor General or the Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec proclaims an additional general holiday during the term of this agreement for the employees covered by this agreement which compels the observance of this holiday over and above the agreed number of holidays indicated above, this Article will be amended to provide for such additional paid holiday.
16.03 An employee who qualifies in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that provisions of this agreement shall be granted a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s holiday with pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required as follows:
1) Employees who are normally assigned to work on the day a Recognized Holiday general holiday is observed and who are not required to work, shall be paid equivalent to the wages the employee would have earned had they worked, no less than the basic day. Hours apply to the weekly guarantee and to the calculation of weekly overtime.
2) Employees who are normally assigned to work on the day a general holiday is observed and who are required to work, shall be paid in addition to the pay provided in Article 16.03 (1), at the a rate of equal to one and one-half (1.50) times her/the employee’s regular rate of wages for actual hours worked by the employee on that holiday, no less than the basic day; or if the employee wishes he may also elect to be paid at a rate equal to one and one-half the employee’s regular rate of wages for actual hours worked by the employee on that holiday, no less than the basic day, and to reschedule his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one
(1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or pay at a mutually agreed to time. Straight time hours apply to the nurse may request that a day in lieu calculation of weekly overtime (operations only).
3) Employees whose vacation period coincides with any of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he general holidays specified in Article 16.01 shall receive an extra day’s day(s) off with pay added to that vacation schedule, or at the employees’ option be given another day(s) off with pay at her/his a mutually agreed to time. Alternatively, the employee may elect to receive payment in the form of a basic day at their straight time classification rate of pay. 2204 A pay as determined by their last day worked prior to that annual vacation.
4) Employees whose scheduled day off coincides with any of the general holidays specified in Article 16.01 shall be given a scheduled workday off with pay at a mutually agreed to time. Alternatively, the employee may elect to receive payment in lieu the form of a Recognized Holiday shall basic day at their straight time classification rate of pay as determined by their last day worked prior to that General Holiday. These straight time hours are used in the calculation of weekly overtime and are over and above any guarantees.
16.04 An employee will not be added qualified for a paid holiday if:
1) The employee is on an authorized leave of absence without pay for more than five (5) days prior to a weekend off or following the holiday;
2) The employee is receiving sickness benefits;
3) The employee is absent by reason of layoff for more than five (5) working days prior to the holiday;
4) The employee is receiving CNESST benefits.
16.05 In order to qualify for such recognized holidays, except as provided for in Article 16.04, an employee:
1) Must have worked the last regular scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas shift before and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Daythe first regular scheduled shift immediately following the observed holiday and/or any designated lieu day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years the employee is able to demonstrate that there was reasonable cause for such absence.

Recognized Holidays. 2201 For purposes of this Agreement, Recognized (paid) Holidays shall be New Year's Day (January 1st), ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st), the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and Boxing Day (December 26th); and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days offoff or during a week of her/his vacation, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one
(1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. (a) An employee shall receive eight (8) hours' pay at his basic classification rate, provided he has completed his last regular scheduled shift preceding the holiday and his first regular scheduled shift following the holiday in accordance with the shift schedule, and he has also completed any overtime commitment adjacent to the holiday for which he has volunteered.
(b) Subject to the above provisions an employee working "H and "P" shifts shall receive twelve (12) hours pay at his basic classification rate when a recognized holiday falls on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
26:03 Notwithstanding the nurse may request that provisions of section 26:02 an employee shall be considered eligible for holiday pay provided:
(a) He was not late in excess of one hour on his first regular shift following the holiday, and presents a day in lieu satisfactory reason for his lateness.
(b) He requested and received written permission from his Operations Manager and/or designate to be absent on either his last regular scheduled shift preceding the holiday, or his first regular scheduled shift following the holiday, or any portion of these times, and returns to work at the expiry of the Recognized Holiday period for which he had received permission to be scheduled absent.
26:04 An employee who accepts an assignment to work on a date mutually agreed between holiday and fails to report, shall not be paid for the Employer holiday unless he has a reason satisfactory to the Company.
(a) An employee normally scheduled to work on a holiday must complete his regular scheduled shift to be eligible for holiday pay.
(b) An employee who cannot complete his regular scheduled shift due to illness shall receive holiday pay on a pro-rated basis. If the employee subsequently provides proof that he received medical attention that day, he shall receive full holiday pay.
26:06 An employee assigned to the continuous shift schedule who is normally on his days off shall be considered to be in continuous employment and shall be paid for the nurseholiday in accordance with the provisions of this Article.
26:07 Notwithstanding the provisions of section 26:02, an employee who is absent on his last regular scheduled shift preceding the holiday, and/or his first regular scheduled shift following the holiday, due to personal sickness supported by a medical doctor's certificate, or because of lay-off, shall receive holiday pay provided he works one complete shift in the nurse may request that she/week in which the holiday occurs, or in the case of a continuous shift employee, provided he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse works one complete shift within five (5) calendar days preceding or succeeding the holiday.
(a) An employee required to work on a Recognized Holiday holiday (except on Christmas Day) shall be paid at the rate of one time and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that oneclassification rate.

Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned Employer and the Employernurse, accumulated days in lieu days of Recognized Holidays must be taken within the fiscal calendar year in which they were earned. 2207 A nurse working on the shift commencing at or about midnight shall be deemed to have worked on a Recognized Holiday if the majority of hours worked fall within the day in question regardless of what calendar day any part of such shift was actually worked.

Recognized Holidays. 2201 For The following are Recognized Holidays for purposes of this Agreement, Recognized (paid) Holidays shall be : New Year's Day (January 1st), ) August Civic Holiday ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇), ) Labour Day Good Friday, Friday Thanksgiving Day Easter Monday, Monday Remembrance Day (November 11th) Victoria Day, Day Christmas Day Canada Day (July 1st), the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and ) Boxing Day (December 26th); and any other statutory holidays declared day proclaimed as a holiday by federal or provincial authorityauthorities. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days off, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one
(1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with 1501. 7�02 In order to qualify for holiday pay, an employee must work their scheduled shifts immediately before and any other statutory holidays declared after, unless on leave approved by federal the Company�
7�03 An employee will not qualify for holiday pay if the employee has failed to report for work without just reason acceptable to the Company on the recognized holiday after having been instructed to so report or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls if the employee is on her/his scheduled days offleave of absence without pay, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, Worker’s Compensation or short or long term disability immediately preceding the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse holiday�
7�04 Employees who are not required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall recognized holiday and who qualify for holiday pay, will receive the lesser of their regular scheduled hours of work at their basic hourly rate, or eight (8) hours pay at their basic hourly rate or alternatively, substitute another working day off with pay on a day that can be mutually agreed to between the employee and Centre Manager�
7�05 Employees who work on a recognized holiday will be paid for all hours worked on the holiday at the rate of one and one-half (1.501½) times her/his basic pay and their regular hourly rate� Hours worked on the holiday will not be considered in addition it is understood that one
(1) calculating overtime entitlement during the work week of the recognized holiday� Employees who agree to substitute another working day off shall with pay as provided for in clause 7�04, will be banked in accordance paid their regular rate of pay for the recognized holiday�
7�06 If a holiday falls during an employee’s scheduled vacation, the Company shall, with Article 2206the agreement of the employee, either pay the employee the equivalent of their regular scheduled hours of work at their basic rate of pay or the nurse may request that a provide another day off with pay in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled holiday�
7�07 Full time employees may express their desire to work or not work on a date mutually agreed between Recognized Holiday� The Centre Manager will consider the Employer requests of the full time employees when scheduling employees to work on the holiday� Management will schedule shifts to meet the most efficient operational needs of the site� Part Time Bargaining Units Only

Recognized Holidays. 2201 For purposes the purpose of this Agreement, Recognized (paid) Holidays with pay shall be be: New Year's Day (January 1st), ) August Civic Holiday ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Easter Sunday Remembrance Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇), Good Friday, Easter Monday, November 11th) Victoria Day, Day Christmas Day (December 25th) Canada Day (July 1st), the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and ) Boxing Day (December 26th); and ) And any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days offoff or during a week her/his vacation, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, 2206 or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one
one (1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall shall, whenever reasonably possible, be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreedoff. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken consecutively with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with 1501vacation. Unless otherwise mutually agreed between the nurse nurse(s) concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days Recognized Holidays must be taken within the fiscal calendar year in which they were earnedat a mutually acceptable time. 2207 Unless otherwise mutually agreed, a nurse who is assigned to work a weekend shall be assigned and will work on a Recognized Holiday that falls on the Friday or Monday consecutive with that weekend.

Recognized Holidays. 2201 For purposes 26.1 The following Holidays are recognized: New Year’s Day Family Day Good Friday Easter Monday Victoria Day Canada Day Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day Christmas Day Boxing Day and any day proclaimed by the Federal, Provincial or Municipal Government.
26.2 When any of this Agreementthe above holidays falls on a Saturday or Sunday, Recognized (paid) Holidays for Employees on the regular Monday to Friday work week schedule, the Friday preceding or the Monday succeeding such holiday shall be New Year's Day (January 1st)designated by the Agency as the day of observance of such holiday, ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ Day (la journée ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇)and it is agreed that any premium payable for working on a designated holiday shall not apply to such Saturday or Sunday.
26.3 If a recognized Holiday occurs during a full-time Employee’s vacation period, Good Fridaysuch Employee shall be granted another vacation day off with pay in lieu thereof at a time convenient to the requirements of the Employer with the wishes of the Employee given full consideration. In cases where an Employee is assigned the duties and responsibilities of a higher paying classification, Easter Mondayfor a minimum of one week, Victoria Dayand a recognized Holiday falls within such one week period, Canada Day (July 1st)that is to say, not the first day or last day of such assignment, the first Monday Employee shall receive the applicable rate for the higher paying classification for the recognized Holiday.
26.4 A full-time Employee on the seniority list and presently actively employed and on the payroll shall receive pay at basic rate/daily salary as set out in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th)Schedule "A" times regularly scheduled daily hours for each Holiday listed in this Article if:
a) The full-time Employee works his/her scheduled shift immediately preceding and succeeding the recognized Holiday unless absence is the result of personal illness or accident in which case the Employer may require verification by a medical doctor's certificate as to the illness or accident;
b) The full-time Employee who has been recalled must work the day before and the day after the Holiday since returning to work, and Boxing Day (December 26th); is not entitled to a recognized Holiday between the date of layoff and the return to work.
c) For part-time Employees the entitlement to pay on any other statutory of the aforementioned recognized paid holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days off, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in subject to the following qualifying conditions:
i) In accordance with Article 2206the Employment Standards Act of Ontario: The total amount of regular wages and vacation pay payable to the Employee in the four work weeks before the, or work week in which the nurse public holiday occurred, divided by 20.
26.5 The Employer may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive require an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required Employee to work on a Recognized Holiday. An Employee who is scheduled to work on the day a recognized Holiday is observed by the Employer shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1.50receive:
a) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that oneto the pay provided for under Article 26.4, double (2X) basic hourly salary times all hours worked on Holidays listed in this Article; or,
(1b) day off shall be banked in accordance with no payment under Article 2206, or 26.4 if the nurse may request that Employee does not report for work and does not have a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between reason satisfactory to the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with 1501.
