Common use of Protective Eyewear Clause in Contracts

Protective Eyewear. The Employer will pay one hundred percent (100%) of the costs for one (1) pair of non-prescription safety glasses per year. Replacement glasses will be provided at no cost provided the previously issued pair is damaged and turned in. Should the temperature in an employee(s) work area exceed 100 degrees fahrenheight on a particular day during the months June, July, August and September (based on the Humidex Scale readings), employee(s) will be allowed extended rest periods and lunch breaks. Where an employee becomes ill as a result of heat prostration, the Company will excuse an employee(s) from work in the same manner as any other employee who suffers an illness at work. The employee’s wage for the day in question will cease when they leave the plant as outlined above. For purposes of determining the need for Heat Relief, the parties agree to rely on the Humidex readings as confirmed by the Humidex Scale of the Environment of Canada Weather Station located at the London Airport as published throughout a particular day in question.
