Progressive Corrective Action. Except as otherwise provided, the principles of corrective action shall be followed with respect to conduct which is not a violation of criminal law. The charge of insubordination will only be used when no other charge is applicable to the conduct considered insubordinate. The progression shall at least include documented oral reprimand before a written reprimand, a written reprimand before a suspension, and a suspension before reduction in pay or rank or removal for the same or related offenses. If the offense is of a serious nature, the Police Chief may determine that a different sequence is utilized.
