Processing and Time Limits. Grievances may be investigated and processed during working hours by Union Stewards, representatives, and grievance committees, provided such activities do not interfere with the operations of the Fire Department. A grievance not filed or appealed within the established time limits shall be deemed waived. If the Employer fails to reply within the established time limits then, at the Union's option, it may automatically advance to the next step. The time limits set forth in this Article may be extended by mutual written consent of the parties. The term "working days" means the days of the week, Monday through Friday, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.
