Processing and Time Limits. ‌ Grievances may be investigated and processed during working hours by Union Stewards or Executive Board Members of the Local Union. Upon obtaining approval of their supervisor before leaving their work assignment or area and provided such activities do not interfere with the normal operations of the Fire Department, Stewards will be permitted to handle and process grievances referred by an employee at the appropriate steps of the grievance procedure during work hours without loss of pay, provided that such activity shall not exceed a reasonable period of time. The time limits set forth in this Article may be extended by mutual written consent of the parties.
