Procedure for Redundancies. If acceptable alternative employment arrangements cannot be found and redundancies are unavoidable: (a) The Employer shall invite expressions of interest from the employees in the work area affected who wish to be considered for voluntary redundancy; (b) The Employer shall have the absolute discretion to either accept or reject any application under paragraph (a); and (c) If there are insufficient volunteers accepted by the Employer, then the selection of employees to be made redundant will be, prima facie, on the basis of last on first off subject to such selection not being discriminatory. Otherwise selection will be on the basis of criteria which will be developed in consultation with the affected employees. Such criteria may include, without limitation, its operational requirements, skills and experience of the employees, period of employment and any exceptional personal circumstances.
