Privacy Principles. 1.2.1 HMG is developing a set of principles relating to privacy which will guide Identity Assurance. Principles are expected to cover the following:  User Control - Identity Assurance can only take place with consent  Transparency - Identity Assurance can only take place in ways that customers understand and when they are fully informed  Multiplicity - choice over Identity Providers / number of Identity Providers used  Data Minimisation - transactions will only use the minimum data necessary to meet a customers needs  Data Quality - choice over when to update records  User Access and Portability - copies of data to be available on request and ability to move/remove data upon request  Governance / Certification - customers can trust the service because they know all participants have been accredited  Problem Resolution - Independent Arbiters to resolve problems  Exceptional Circumstances - exceptions to be approved by Parliament and subject to independent scrutiny
