Common use of PRICE DISCREPANCY Clause in Contracts

PRICE DISCREPANCY. 4.1 Conventional (Manual) Price Bid opening : In the case of price bid opening without resorting to Reverse Auction, if there are differences between the rates given by the tenderer in words and figures or in amount worked out by him, the following procedure for evaluation and award shall be followed: i) When there is a difference between the rates in figures and in words, the rates which corresponds to the amounts worked out by the contractor, shall be taken as correct ii) When the amount of an item is not worked out by the contractor or it does not correspond with the rate written either in figure or in words, then the rate quoted by the contractor in words shall be taken as correct iii) When the rate quoted by the contractor in figures and words tallies but the amount is not worked out correctly, the rate quoted by the contractor shall be taken as correct and not the amount. iv) In case of lumpsum price, if there is any difference between the amount in figures and in words, the amount quoted by the bidder in words shall be taken as correct.
