Preceptor. A Registered Nurse 2, Health Care Specialist, Social Worker, END Technologist, Respiratory Care Practitioner or Anesthesia Technician may serve as a preceptor after successfully completing a preceptor workshop or equivalent documented training and agreeing to and being appointed to be specifically responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating the new skill development of one or more RNs, Health Care Specialists, Social Workers, END Technologists, Respiratory Care Practitioners or Anesthesia Technicians as appropriate enrolled in a defined orientation program, the parameters of which have been set forth in writing by the Employer. This includes teaching, clinical supervision, role modeling, feedback, evaluation (verbal and written) and follow up of the new or transferring employee. The RN 2, Health Care Specialist, Social Worker, END Technologist, Respiratory Care Practitioner or Anesthesia Technician preceptor is eligible to receive preceptor premium pay when actually engaged in preceptor role responsibilities with/on behalf of the orienting RN, Health Care Specialist, Social Worker, END Technologist, Respiratory Care Practitioner or Anesthesia Technician. An RN 2, Health Care Specialist, Social Worker, END Technologist, Respiratory Care Practitioner or Anesthesia Technician substituting for the original preceptor during a period of absence and who has been designated to carry out the preceptor's complete responsibility (including following and/or adjusting the plan to meet learning needs and providing oral and written evaluation input) will receive preceptor pay. A preceptor may be assigned to a student when it is determined by the Employer that the employee has completed the required preceptor training or has agreed to and been appointed a preceptor. The employee is specifically responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating the new skill development of the student as appropriately enrolled in a defined program, the parameters of which have been set forth in writing by the Employer. This includes teaching, clinical supervision, role modeling, feedback, evaluation (verbal and written) and follow up of the student.

Preceptor. A Registered Nurse 2, Health Care Specialist, Social Worker, END Technologist, Respiratory Care Practitioner or Anesthesia Technician may serve as a preceptor after successfully completing a preceptor workshop or equivalent documented training is an experienced nurse who has worked independently for at least one (1) year in the applicable specialty area and agreeing to and being appointed to be is proficient in clinical teaching who is specifically responsible for planning, organizing, organizing and evaluating the new skill development of a nurse:
a. A resident RN or Fellow employed by the Hospital;
b. A senior elective RN student;
c. A new RN hired at the Hospital into clinical areas in which the RN has no previous experience and/or Fellows;
d. An RN cross-training into a new clinical area and/or Fellows;
e. An RN who has completed their residency but needs additional training time;
f. An RN needing additional and/or necessary specific skill development as approved and directed by management;
g. Any RN new to the Hospital, including travelers, who is not assigned a patient assignment or who is not independently caring for a patient. Preferably, all Preceptors will have completed the preceptor training program prior to precepting. Inherent in the Preceptor role is the responsibility for specific, criteria-based and goal directed education for a specific period. A Preceptor shall work on a one-on-one or more basis and in close proximity to the preceptee. It is the intent that the Preceptee’s schedule shall be incorporated into the regular schedule of the Preceptor to the extent possible, unless training needs are such that variation provides a ▇▇▇▇▇▇ training experience. Preceptor responsibilities will be considered when making patient care assignments. Nursing management will determine the need for preceptor assignments. Preceptor assignments will be rotated equitably. Trained preceptors will first be offered preceptor assignments. If no trained preceptor accepts the assignment, other bargaining unit RNs will be assigned the preceptor assignment prior to non-bargaining unit RNs. However, Health Care Specialists, Social Workers, END Technologists, Respiratory Care Practitioners or Anesthesia Technicians management will have the right to assign a non-bargaining unit RN as appropriate enrolled a preceptor only after all bargaining unit RNs (who have worked independently for at least one (1) year in a defined orientation program, the parameters of which applicable specialty area) on the unit have been set forth offered the assignment.
4.8.1 It is understood that staff nurses in writing by the Employer. This includes teaching, clinical supervision, role modeling, feedback, evaluation (verbal and written) and follow up ordinary course of their responsibilities will be expected to participate in the general orientation process of new or transferring employee. The RN 2, Health Care Specialist, Social Worker, END Technologist, Respiratory Care Practitioner or Anesthesia Technician preceptor is eligible to receive preceptor premium pay when actually engaged in preceptor role responsibilities with/on behalf of the orienting RN, Health Care Specialist, Social Worker, END Technologist, Respiratory Care Practitioner or Anesthesia Technician. An RN 2, Health Care Specialist, Social Worker, END Technologist, Respiratory Care Practitioner or Anesthesia Technician substituting for the original preceptor during a period of absence and who has been designated to carry out the preceptor's complete responsibility (including following and/or adjusting the plan to meet learning needs and providing oral and written evaluation input) will receive nurses without receiving preceptor pay. A preceptor may be assigned “General orientation” includes the providing of informational assistance, support and guidance to a student when it is determined by new nurses on the Employer that the employee has completed the required preceptor training or has agreed to and been appointed a preceptor. The employee is specifically responsible unit who are independently caring for planning, organizing, and evaluating the new skill development of the student as appropriately enrolled in a defined program, the parameters of which have been set forth in writing by the Employer. This includes teaching, clinical supervision, role modeling, feedback, evaluation (verbal and written) and follow up of the studentpatients.
