Common use of Personal Protective Equipment Clause in Contracts

Personal Protective Equipment. The Company will make provisions for the health and safety of Employees during their hours of employment in accordance with the law. The Company will provide protective devices, protective apparel and other equipment necessary to properly protect Employees from illness and injury. It is each Employee’s responsibility to abide by established safety rules and policies. If a condition arises that presents a danger to an Employee’s health or safety, the Employee will report the hazard to his/her Supervisor, who will promptly investigate and take whatever action is necessary to correct the condition. At no cost to Employees, the Company will furnish gloves and protective clothing in sufficient quantities and proper sizes for such kinds of work that are determined to require the use of such protective clothing. Eye protection is required in the plant where mandated by Occupational Health & Safety Act standards. Safety glasses will be provided and replaced if broken or damaged. To receive a new pair of non- prescription safety glasses, an Employee must turn in their old pair of safety glasses. Prescription safety glasses will be available to all those who require safety glasses to perform their job. New Employees who require prescription safety glasses must have them prior to the commencement of employment. If the standard lenses or frames are damaged as a result of an on-the-job incident, they will be replaced. New prescription standard safety glass frames and/or lenses will be issued and paid for by the Company, every two (2) years. The Company will reimburse Employees who are required to wear steel-toed safety shoes up to $75.00 per year (or $150.00 every two years) during the term of the Agreement. The parties will develop and maintain programs and practices that are focused on minimizing the ergonomic issues related to the Company’s manufacturing processes. These practices may include rotating positions within a classification, as appropriate.

The Company will make provisions purchase the first pair approved prescrip- tion safety glasses that conform with Industrial Safety Glasses Standards provided such glasses are purchased through a participating provider service recommended by the Company (example Sears). Employees may purchase required safety glasses through a provider service of their own choice in which case the fol- lowing reimbursement schedule will apply: The Company will also participate as provided above where a new prescription for industrial safety glasses is required. There will be no duplication of payment. The Company shall repair, or cause to be repaired without cost to the health and employee, approved prescription safety glasses that are accidentally damaged during the course of Employees during their hours of employment in accordance with the lawhis/her employment. Replacement will not be made for breakage due to personal negligence or carelessness. The Company will provide protective devicesnon-prescription safety glasses for all employees and will repair, protective apparel and other equipment necessary or cause to properly protect Employees from illness and injury. For employees of the Shipping Department who are required to work outside on a regular basis, the Company will furnish gloves and protective clothing in sufficient quantities and proper sizes for such kinds of work that are determined to require the use of such protective clothing.
