PERC. You mentioned not wanting to harm living things – what are your thoughts on incorporating sustainability into your art? Xxxxxxxxx: That was my goal with harvesting from fallen trees that are already starting to decompose, but some- times the bark is too fragile to work with. I would like to do more research on finding an eco-friendly framing compa- in my early twenties – that fact alone is a testament to how that feeling of pride can be stripped away for genera- tions, even for someone who didn’t experience the worst outcomes. Connection to culture is healing. My hope is that I can eventually offer work- shops or at least inspire other Indigenous people to experi- ment with connecting to their cultures through art, specifi- cally quillwork.
