Paraeducator Training Clause Samples
The Paraeducator Training clause establishes requirements for the training and professional development of paraeducators working within an educational setting. Paraeducator Training. The District shall offer a multi-tier training program to all paraeducators. Paraeducators who complete each level of this program shall be designated as Level One-Five Paraeducators and shall be paid an additional stipend beyond their regular salary as of September 1 of each year. The stipend shall remain in effect during the paraeducator’s continuous service in the Colonial School District. Stipend amounts are included in Appendix B.
14:5.1 The following terms and conditions shall apply to the training: • The programs shall be offered periodically throughout the period of this Agreement, by mutual agreement of the parties. • The programs shall be provided outside the regular workday, and paraeducators who participate shall not be paid for their hours of participation. Classwork or homework assigned through the program shall be completed outside the regular workday. • The Paraeducator Staff Development Committee shall designate the means by which the program shall be provided. • All newly hired paraeducators are to complete the Level One Training Program within one full year of their hire date as a condition of continual employment. • After which, notification of intent must be submitted to the Office of the Assistant Superintendent by September 1. Paraeducators will be required to complete at least one level of coursework. If no coursework is completed after the submission of intent, the license fee will be assessed to the employee. The deadline for submission is June 1 with the carryover of payment by September 1.
14:5.2 All paraeducators shall follow guidelines as outlined by the Delaware Department of Education for holding and maintaining valid professional permits.
Paraeducator Training. Paraeducators who complete the Advanced Paraeducator Certificate will be awarded $750 stipend at the time of completion or renewal.
Paraeducator Training. Effective July 1, 2018 Newly hired Paraeducator (prior to the start of the school): o Will be compensated for six (6) hours of training paid per timecard. Newly hired Paraeducator (during the school): o Will spend two (2) days in training within the first month of hire (with sub provided). Two additional work days will be added to the Pareducator II’s work calendar (ie. From 181 to 183 days). Paraeducators at San ▇▇▇▇ High School will be required to attend a monthly training during Teacher Collaboration Time (TCT). This additional time will be paid on a timecard.

The remaining hours will be used for paraeducator day-to-day training, such as curriculum, de-escalation, and health and safety procedures as directed by the supervising administrator; they will not be used for mandatory trainings such as Safe Schools or state required trainings like the Fundamental Course of Study. Beginning in the 2024-2025 School Year, 181-day paraeducators may have, in addition to the one building directed LID day, an optional professional development day. An employee who utilizes the optional professional development day will receive the optional day as additional hours to be paid at their regular rate of pay. This additional contracted day will not be used for mandatory trainings such as Safe Schools or state required trainings like the Fundamental Course of Study. Instead, it will be used for paraeducator day-to-day training, such as curriculum, de-escalation, and health and safety procedures as directed by the supervising administrator. Each newly hired paraeducator will receive four hours of training. Two (2) of these hours will be spent one-to-one shadowing a paraeducator with a similar assignment. Such shadowing is intended to take place on the newly hired paraeducator’s first workday, however, must take place within the newly hired paraeducator’s first week. The remaining two (2) hours will be spent being trained on day-to-day responsibilities specific to their position as determined by the supervising administrator; this training should take place as soon as reasonably possible however, must take place within the newly hired paraeducator’s first thirty days of employment. The supervising administrator of the newly hired paraeducator will solicit volunteers to fill the paraeducator trainer role. If more than one employee volunteers for the paraeducator trainer role, the administrator will select from the volunteer employees by informal interview. If needed, building administrators will collaborate with other building administrators if a paraeducator trainer in their building is unavailable.
