Our Goals. The overall goal of WP4 is to study the robust and online scheduling and rescheduling of railway resources under uncertainty. To that end, we will develop a sound definition of robustness in tight interaction with WP1, as well as a conceptual framework for evaluating the results obtained from the algorithmic methods. We aim at identifying the computational complexity of robust and online railway resource scheduling problems, and at a better understanding of the structure of MIP models for these problems. In doing so, we will generate alternative railway resource allocations in case of disruptions, within a pre-specified amount of time, and with an acceptable quality. These activities require reliable up-to-date information, which is to be gathered by continuously monitoring and evaluating the status quo of the railway system in a dependable way. Our Plan of Action. Resource scheduling problems share some similarities with timetable planning problems, especially when considering them under MIP modelling approaches. For this reason, the same host of MIP-based approaches (including heuristric methods) described previously for robust timetabling will also be pursued here. A subsequent step will be to develop a meaningful model to assess the quality of robust schedules and online algorithms (joining forces with WP1). Robust scheduling can be approached by integrating optimization models with stochastic elements, as in [KDV05]. Although this model focuses on robust timetable planning, the same concepts may be used for robust resource scheduling. To solve the stochastic optimization models, we plan to investigate techniques that exploit repetitive structures in the model. For online resource scheduling, two tracks will be followed. The first aims at the development of a conceptual framework for collecting online data, the second at the development of dependable algorithms to quickly generate alternative plans in the case of disruptions. Because of the severe limits on computation times, we will have a particular focus on heuristic methods here. To some extent, these can be inspired by the methodology used by planners in practice. Further, we will study techniques based on meta-heuristics such as xxxx search, aggregation and disaggregation techniques for multi-commodity flow models, and disjunctive graph models. Moreover, we plan to develop a new MIP solution technique that preprocesses the original MIP formulation by systematically exploiting problem specific pol...

Related to Our Goals

  • Performance Goals A. The Trust and State Street have developed mutually acceptable performance goals dated March 1, 2011 , and as may be amended from time to time, regarding the manner in which they expect to deliver and receive the services under this Agreement (hereinafter referred to as “Service Level Agreement”). The parties agree that such Service Level Agreement reflects performance goals and any failure to perform in accordance with the provisions thereof shall not be considered a breach of contract that gives rise to contractual or other remedies. It is the intention of the parties that the sole remedy for failure to perform in accordance with the provisions of the Service Level Agreement, or any dispute relating to performance goals set forth in the Service Level Agreement, will be a meeting of the parties to resolve the failure pursuant to the consultation procedure described in Sections V. B. and V.C. below. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the parties hereby acknowledge that any party’s failure (or lack thereof) to meet the provisions of the Service Level Agreement, while not in and of itself a breach of contract giving rise to contractual or other remedies, may factor into the Trust’s reasonably determined belief regarding the standard of care exercised by State Street hereunder.

  • Goals Goals define availability, performance and other objectives of Service provisioning and delivery. Goals do not include remedies and failure to meet any Service Goal does not entitle Customer to a Service credit.

  • Program Goals CalHFA MAC envisions that these monies would be used to complement other federal or lender programs designed specifically to stabilize communities by providing assistance to homeowners who have suffered a financial hardship and as a result are no longer financially able to afford their first-lien mortgage loan payments or their Property Expenses when associated with a Federal Housing Administration (“FHA”) Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (“HECM”) loan, only.

  • Performance Criteria The Performance Criteria are set forth in Exhibit A to this Agreement.

  • Project Goals The schedule, budget, physical, technical and other objectives for the Project shall be defined.

  • PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 4.1 The Performance Plan (Annexure A) sets out-

  • Contract Goals A. For purposes of this procurement, OGS conducted a comprehensive search and determined that the Contract does not offer sufficient opportunities to set goals for participation by MWBEs as subcontractors, service providers, or suppliers to Contractor. Contractor is, however, encouraged to make every good faith effort to promote and assist the participation of MWBEs on this Contract for the provision of services and materials. The directory of New York State Certified MWBEs can be viewed at: xxxxx://xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx/FrontEnd/VendorSearchPublic.asp?TN=ny&XID=2528. Additionally, following Contract execution, Contractor is encouraged to contact the Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development ((000) 000-0000; (000) 000-0000; or (000) 000-0000) to discuss additional methods of maximizing participation by MWBEs on the Contract.
