Pager Time Sample Clauses
The "Pager Time" clause defines the rules and compensation for periods when an employee is required to be on-call and available to respond to work-related issues, typically via a pager or similar device. This clause specifies the hours during which the employee must be reachable, the expectations for response times, and the rate of pay or stipend provided for this availability, regardless of whether active work is performed. Its core function is to ensure both employer and employee have a clear understanding of on-call obligations and compensation, thereby preventing disputes and ensuring fair treatment for time spent on standby.
Pager Time. “Pager time” is defined as the period of time a Fleet employee is required to be ready and available for work outside of his/her regular work hours. During the pager time, the Fleet employee shall be required to respond to work calls and shall be required to comply with the City’s Drug-Free Workplace & Anti-Drug and Alcohol policy. During the pager time, employees generally will be required to report to work within forty-five (45) minutes of the pager call. Fleet employees unable to report to work within forty-five (45) minutes, due to circumstances beyond their control, must communicate with their direct supervisor immediately; if the direct supervisor is unavailable, the Fleet employee must communicate with a Transit Supervisor. The City will maintain its voluntary system for standby. However, if there are no volunteers, management will be responsible to carry the pager if available. However, if management is unavailable, the City may require employees to be on standby on a rotational basis. Fleet employees assigned to carry the pager will be compensated one and one-half (1.5) hours of straight time for each twelve (12) hour period assigned. If Fleet employees carry the pager on a holiday as defined in Article 13.1, they will be compensated an additional four (4) hours of straight time. Fleet employees may trade pager assignments with another qualified Fleet employee. The Fleet employee initiating the trade must immediately notify the Fleet manager of the trade. No overtime shall be paid unless the employee is required to return to work.
Pager Time. The employees of the Municipal Court, namely the Court Administrator and Deputy Court Administrator, shall receive four (4) hours of compensatory time, per month, when on call for a specific month. Only one employee of the Municipal Court shall be on call at one time. Accumulated compensatory time earned for being on call must be used within three (3) months of being earned.
Pager Time. Any officer requested/required to carry a pager shall be compensated by receiving four (4) hours of compensation time for each month he carries the pager.
Pager Time. A. Employees who are required to carry a pager will not be given any additional compensation for carrying the pager. If an employee is required to carry a pager, and the employee is already in on-duty status, pager time will be part of the regular duty. However, if an employee is in an off-duty status and is paged, pager-duty-time will be calculated from the onset of the time of the page and will include all time actually worked on the assignment. Employees are required to keep and submit a written record of all such time, and will be paid for same in one-hour increments. Any minutes, less than a full hour, will be carried until a full hour is accumulated.
B. Beeper free days. Employees who are regularly assigned to carry a beeper shall be given two beeper free days in each seven-day period. These shall be consecutive whenever possible, but no less than 26 times per year, provided the employees obtain coverage from a co-worker. However, in the event the employee does not obtain coverage, the employee shall still be entitled to two beeper free days in each seven-day period, but they may not be consecutive. Every effort will be made to jointly work out the beeper-free scheduling with ISP/JISP management.
