It may involve 27 determining if anything outside of the supervisor’s immediate attention prevents 28 the employee from doing the job properly. Removing obstacles means that it is 29 important to look below the surface. Again, problems in this area may be 30 identified during Coaching sessions. Supervisors should be sensitive to 31 concerns and issues relating to the employee’s personal situation. Should the 32 supervisor identify personal issues relating to performance, the utilization of the 33 Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is encouraged.
