Safety and Health Committee A joint Safety and Health Committee will be established at each plant comprised of equal representation from labour and management. Committees shall not have more than ten nor less than three Union members depending upon plant size. Committees already in effect will remain unchanged unless changed by mutual agreement. The Committee shall include representation from the salaried bargaining unit, where appli- cable. A list of current members shall be posted in the plant. The Committee will: Select two of its members (one from the Local Union and one from Local Management) to make an immediate investi- gation and report on serious accidents or disabling injuries in the plant. Select two members (one from Local Union and one from Local Management) to make a monthly plant inspection. They will file a written report on findings. Hold meetings as required but not less than once per month to review the results of the plant inspections, the reports on serious accidents or disabling injuries and review the effectiveness of Safety and Health Program. Committee members only shall attend meetings unless otherwise agreed upon by the Committee. The Company shall provide the Union Safety Com- mittee with minutes, including target dates set for completion of recommendations, of the monthly meeting within one week. At the third monthly meeting in each calendar quarter the Safety and Health Committee shall make a review and evaluation of the preceding quarter’s activities. The staff representative servicing the Local Union may attend and participate in this meeting. Employees and Committee members are requested to promptly report hazards, unsafe conditions, or unsafe practices rather than wait for the monthly meeting. Action taken on reported hazards should be reviewed during the meeting. It is agreed that the Union’s Safety Committee act hereunder exclusively in an advisory capacity and that the International Union, Local Unions, Union Safety Committees and its officers, employees and agents shall not be liable for any work-connected injuries, disabilities or diseases which may be incurred by employees. The Company the desirability of discussing significant intended changed circumstances and safety improve- ments with the Safety and Health and affected employees in advance of their implementation. During an inspection made by a Ministry of Labour official, the representative by the employees shall not suffer loss of pay for time spent on the inspection Where lost time is regarding Safety and Health matters at the plant there shall be no loss of pay. First Aid and Medical Examination The Company will continue to provide adequate first aidfacilities and access to emergency medical treatment when necessary as recommended by qualified medical personnel. The Company will also provide the services of a registered nurse or a qualified first aider. A current list of qualified first aid attendant(s) will be posted in the first aid room or other designated location and such list will be provided to the Union. The Company will also provide emergency transportation on the day of injury to and from the emergency medical treatment centre for injured employees. As an Advisory Committee to Local Management, this Joint Committee will be consulted in cases where in Manage- ment’s opinion an employee who has been absent due to serious illness or injury should be requested to take a medical exami- nation by a medical doctor of his own choice upon his return to work. The purpose of this examination will be to assure the individual and the Local Management that the employee is not assigned to duties harmful to the safety and health of himself and/or other employees. The Local Management will make every effort to properly place an employee requiring either temporary or permanent consideration under this Section, When it is determined by the Joint Safety and Health Committeethat work-related medical testing is desirable, the Committee shall agree on the method by which such employees shall be tested. Inspect the plant monthly to detect hazardous physical conditions or unsafe work methods. Recommend changes or additions to protective equipment or devices for the elimination of hazards. Promote safety and aid training for committee members and workers. Participate in advertising safety and in selling the safety program to the workers through department meetings. Conduct regularly scheduled meetings for the sole purpose of discussing accident prevention and developing suitable corrective measures. Objective and Obligation of the Parties. It shall be the objective of the Safety Safety, Health and Health Environment Program to eliminate accidents and health hazards, . The Company shall continue to comply with appropriate Safety and Health legisla- tionlegislation, provide a place of employment free of physical and health hazards and shall maintain good housekeeping prac- tices practices and sanitary facilities in each plant. Safety Safety, Health and Health Environment Committee A joint Safety Safety, Health and Health Environment Committee will be established at each plant comprised of equal representation from labour and management. Committees shall not have more than ten nor less than three Union members depending upon plant size. Committees already in effect will remain unchanged unless changed by mutual agreement. The Committee shall include representation from the salaried bargaining unit, where appli- cableapplicable. A list of current members shall be posted in the plant. The Committee will: Select two of its members (one from the Local Union and one from Local Management) to make an immediate investi- gation investigation and report on serious accidents or disabling injuries in the plant. Select two members (one tw o m em bers ( on e from Local Union and one Un ion an d on e from Local Management) to make a monthly plant inspection. They will file a written report on findings. Hold meetings as required but not less than once per month to review the results of the plant inspections, the reports on serious accidents or disabling injuries and review the effectiveness of Safety the Safety, Health and Health Environment Program. Committee members only shall attend meetings unless otherwise agreed upon by the Committee. The Company shall provide the Union Safety Com- mittee Committee with minutes, including target dates set for completion of recommendations, of the monthly meeting within one week. At the third monthly meeting in each calendar quarter the Safety and Health Committee shall make a review and evaluation of the preceding quarter’s activities. The staff representative servicing the Local Union may attend and participate in this meeting. Employees and Committee members are requested to promptly report hazards, unsafe conditions, or unsafe practices rather than wait for the monthly meeting. Action taken on reported hazards should be reviewed during the meeting. It is agreed that the Union’s Safety Committee act hereunder exclusively in an advisory capacity and that the International Union, Local Unions, Union Safety Safety, Health and Environment Committees and its officers, employees and agents shall not be liable for any work-connected injuries, disabilities or diseases which may be incurred by employees. The Company the desirability of discussing will discuss all significant intended changed circumstances and safety improve- ments improvements with the Safety Safety, Health and Health Environment Committee and affected employees in advance of their implementation. During an inspection made by a Ministry of Labour official, the representative by the employees shall not suffer loss of pay for time spent on the inspection Where lost time is regarding Safety Safety, Health and Health Environment matters at the plant there shall be no loss of pay. First Aid and Medical Examination The Company will continue to provide adequate first aidfacilities and access to emergency medical treatment when necessary as recommended by qualified medical personnel. The Company will also provide the services of a registered nurse or a qualified first aider. A current list of qualified first aid attendant(s) will be posted in the first aid room or other designated location and such list will be provided to the Union. The Company will also provide emergency transportation on the day of injury to and from the emergency medical treatment centre for injured employees. As an Advisory Committee to Local Management, this Joint Committee will be consulted in cases where in Manage- ment’s opinion an employee who has been absent due to serious illness or injury should be requested to take a medical exami- nation by a medical doctor of his own choice upon his return to work.
